The film’s cumulative earnings surpassed $313 million in December 2020, dethroning Hayao Miyazaki’s magnum opus, the critically acclaimed animated fantasy film Spirited Away, which had held the spot since its 2001 release. Excitement is bubbling now as new Demon Slayer season has arrived.

The Entertainment District Arc will introduce a new major demon, named Daki, the Upper-Rank Six demon, who our bold adventurers must contend with. Daki will be voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro.

LiSA, who sang the original Demon Slayer themesong, Gurenge, returns to sing the theme songs for the series. The opening theme is called Akeboshi, and the ending theme is called Shirogane.

The Entertainment District arc will broadcast over the course of two periods of three months each, also known as cours, on Fuji TV during fall and winter, according to Anime News Network. Before that, there will be a seven-episode miniseries about the Mugen Train film, known as The Mugen Train arc, that was kicked off on October 10, 2021.

We can expect to get a prelude to the main story in the second season, at the end of The Mugen Train miniseries. Also known as the Entertainment District arc, the series will change its location to Yoshiwara, Japan’s famed red-light district.

Daki, one of the Twelve Kizukis, will play one of the primary antagonists in the Entertainment District Arc of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. The protagonists will be seen dealing with the loss of Kyojuro Rengoku, the Flame Hashira, fighting with their own personal demons while also battling real ones, and strengthening the bonds between each other during the process.

Aniplex also shared a new teaser on July 13, that provides another look at Daki, one of Demon Slayer Season 2’s primary antagonists. Season 2 of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba will run in two cours, as explained above, with the first part titled Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – Mugen Train Arc, a seven-episode version of The Mugen Train movie.

We might also expect a prelude to the Entertainment District arc at the end of the seven-episode miniseries, bridging the gap between the two, while also serving as a teaser to Season 2’s main event. The first episode of The Mugen Train arc, named “Flame Hashira Kyojuro Rengoku,” premiered on October 10, 2021.

It was followed by the third episode, titled “Should Have Been,” and aired on Sunday, October 24, 2021. However, the fourth episode of Demon Slayer: Mugen Train arc has been delayed due to elections in Japan, with the episode getting pushed back by a week.

According to the Chinese movie and video streaming site and over-the-top (OTT) media service provider iQIYI, Demon Slayer Season 2 will have 18 episodes, including the seven-episode Mugen Train miniseries. That puts the number of episodes in the Entertainment District arc at 11.

The majority of the original cast and crew from the first season of Demon Slayer is returning for Season 2. This includes the series’ demon slayer protagonists: Natsuki Hanae as Kamado Tanjiro, Hiro Shimono as Zenitsu Agatsuma, and Yoshitsugu Matsuoka as Inosuke Hashibira.

Haruo Sotozaki will also return as the director. Demon Slayer Season 2 will employ the animation skills of the same studio from Season 1, Ufotable.

The singer, LiSA, who did the original theme for the show’s first season, will be returning for Season 2 as well. LiSA has performed an opening and ending song for Season 2’s take on the Mugen Train arc.

For the Entertainment District arc, Demon Slayer has tapped the artist Aimer. The singer will perform the track “Zankyosanka” as well as the ending “Asa ga Kuru” for the remainder of the episodes of Season 2, which will be here in December.

The entirety of Season 2, The Mugen Train arc and The Entertainment District arc, will broadcast on 30 domestic television channels in Japan, including major networks such as Fuji TV and Tokyo MX. Aniplex, the company behind the anime adaptation, made the announcement on July 13 in a special post titled ‘Kimetsu TV News Announcement Special’.

Funimation, Hulu, and Crunchyroll will also broadcast the seven-episode Mugen Train miniseries that precedes the Entertainment District arc that kicked off on October 10. But that’s not as intimidating as it sounds: Here’s how you should watch Demon Slayer in order. The first season, released in 2019, is 26 episodes long – and you should watch that from start to finish.

A sequel to the first season was released as a film: Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. The wildly successful Demon Slayer movie was also adapted into a television arc as part of Demon Slayer season 2.

In total, Demon Slayer season 2 is 18 episodes long. To keep things simple, we recommend watching Demon Slayer season 1 and then picking either the Mugen Train feature film or the Mugen Train recap arc (episodes 27-33) to watch.

A second Demon Slayer ‘movie’, To the Swordsmith Village, was released earlier in 2023. It bundles together episodes 10 and 11 of the Entertainment District arc and the first episode of season 3, AKA the Swordsmith Village arc.

We recommend just jumping ahead to the proper TV episodes. Speaking of, Demon Slayer season 3 – 11 episodes long – was released in 2023 and should be watched from beginning to end after Entertainment District.

You can watch that a few months early in February 2024 or the one-hour premiere in Spring 2024. The choice is yours.

In our educated opinion, we would recommend watching the adapted-for-TV Mugen Train arc instead of the movie. Not only do you get extra scenes, but you also get a bonus episode (the 27th episode), which provides a little more backstory to one of Mugen Train’s most prominent characters.

It’s completely your choice. Mugen Train is a full sequel to the first season and, unlike other anime tie-in movies, it’s canon.

It does feel a little pointless watching both the movie and the Mugen Train arc series, however. So make sure you pick one or the other.

move on to Demon Slayer season 3 instead. Once Demon Slayer season 4 is out, you can also skip the upcoming To The Hashira movie.

Nevertheless, through his Sun Breathing techniques, Tanjiro almost managed to slice the demon’s head off. The confrontation reached a boiling point when even Nezuko joined the fight and showed off her powerful demon abilities.

Four months after “Demon Slayer” announced its second season, Funimation announced that their service will be hosting the series internationally. This is not a surprise, as Funimation is one of two popular sites that are often the first to release anime episodes internationally.

This is especially true, as the two rival streaming services are currently in the process of merging. Furthermore, it is likely that less niche streaming services, such as Hulu and Netflix, will also begin streaming “Demon Slayer” Season 2 at some point.
