Who accepts to play a negative role at the beginning of his career. Definitely not the one who wants to “rule on the city one day”, right.

In an industry where it’s as easy as a pie to get typecast in a role and thereafter as difficult as walking through a patch of thorns to get out of that image, Shah Rukh Khan, the king of Bollywood, accepted negative roles in Darr and Baazigar that everyone else including actors like Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn and Aamir Khan rejected, and proved “Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho.

Even though there hasn’t been any official news about any of the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan films, the speculations, rumours and reports continue to find run wild on social media. Of all the films that Shah Rukh Khan has reportedly signed, it is only Raj & DK directorial that is more or less confirmed by the duo.

Amidst the reports of Shah Rukh Khan doing Siddharth Anand’s Pathan and Rajkumar Hirani’s social dramady, Atlee’s Sanki is garnering a lot of buzz. It has been reported that the work on script is still on and that Atlee is working on it with a team of writers from Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions.

A recent report in Mumbai Mirror claimed that Shah Rukh khan will be seen in a double role in Sanki. While we are not sure how authentic this news is, it has gone viral on social media.

As we await the official confirmation like we have been waiting since the release of Zero, here’s a list of all the films where Shah Rukh Khan was seen in a double role (or even triple in one case), and how these films fared at the box office.

Directed by Praveen Nischol, the movie starred Shah Rukh Khan in triple role of a father (Gopal Mayur) and his twin sons (Hari Mayur and Vikram Mayur). Co-starring Sonali Bendre, English Babu Desi Mem was panned by the film critics and was adjudged a disaster at the box office.

Duplicate (1998). Directed by Mahesh Bhatt and produced by Yash Johar, this goofy comedy starred Shah Rukh Khan in a double role of man-child Babloo and his look-alike, dreaded Manu Dada.

2023: Shah Rukh Khan’s reinvention [5]

Sudhir Kothari, 36, a financial analyst and adviser based in the southern Indian city of Chennai, has ordered a special five-kilogramme (11-pound) choco-truffle cake, garlands and booked dhol (drum) players.

Kothari, who prefers the appellation “The Only Fan SRK Follows” to his own name, and has written a book of the same title, was busy until late Wednesday evening overseeing the arrangements at the theatre, booked for SRK fans after submitting a support letter from SRK’s production team. After garlanding and pouring milk over Khan’s cutout, they will light fireworks and dance.

In all likelihood, Khan, who has 43.9 million followers on X and follows 74 people, of whom five are fan accounts, will acknowledge the celebration videos with a sweet thanks and #Dunki. Yash Paryani, the admin of SRK Universe, Khan’s biggest fan club which has 3.2 million followers on Facebook, tweeted that for December 21, fans are organising “1,000+ first day, first shows in 65 countries”.

There is FOMO [fear of missing out] and it motivates people to book tickets.”. All the fans Al Jazeera spoke with said that they “don’t get a penny” or any free tickets, and they do all this out of their love for Khan, hoping for one end result: “For SRK films to do wonders and for him to be happy”.

To prepare for that, he has spent months marketing it in a way that resembles the election campaign style of India’s governing right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party, the very party he has had several run-ins with in the past. But it is not clear if all this effort will pay off this time.

His two films — Pathaan, which was released in January this year, and, Jawan [Soldier], in September — were blockbuster hits, and have made it to the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films ever. With Dunki, industry insiders said, Khan is hoping to score a hat-trick.

A concerted backlash followed, his films were trolled and threatened with calls for boycott, and it seemed that he had lost his box-office mojo after three flops and two that did middling business. In 2021, during the pandemic, his then-24-year-old son Aryan Khan was arrested, along with seven others, in an alleged drug bust on board a cruise ship off the Mumbai coast.

Seven months later, all the charges were dropped. Khan has always been outspoken and does not scare easily.

I am a Pathaan,” referring to the proud, warrior clan that he is a descendent of. His public appearances always sparkled with his signature repartee.

But after his son was arrested and attempts were allegedly made to extort money from Khan, he went quiet and retreated from public view. He made no statement on his son’s arrest and the allegations against him, and stopped meeting the press or making appearances on TV shows.

When Pathaan was released in January, Khan’s fans across the world bought 50,000 tickets for the first day, first show, said Paryani. For Jawan, they beat their own record and bought 85,000 tickets.

“There’s a well thought out strategy behind what we have seen — Shah Rukh Khan as a phenomenon in 2023,” Girish Johar, producer and film business expert, told Al Jazeera. “The films were positioned, marketed and released in such a manner that his fan base, box-office numbers and his craze increases day by day, with every film,” he said.

Jawan, by Atlee, a leading Tamil director, had some big southern Indian stars who have a massive fan following in India and abroad. “Hindi films used to clock [250 million to 300 million rupees.

Jawan was the first Bollywood film which has done [700 million to 800 million rupees. $8.4m-9.6m] business in the south,” Johar said.

“The film’s content will speak for itself,” they say and are focused on ensuring that the film, made on less than one-third of Jawan’s budget, beats it at the box office. Industry insiders are sceptical that will happen because, unlike Khan’s two action films this year, Dunki is an emotional drama about illegal migration from Punjab to the United Kingdom, and in India these days, action scores over emotion.

By 2022, he had dropped to the number-10 position with a value of $55.7m in 2022. “2023 can be defined as the year of Shah Rukh Khan’s reinvention,” PR veteran and image guru Dilip Cherian said, explaining how Khan took charge of his “reinvention” by doing three things.

“Take any of the big marquee films in the last one year — all of the films have featured men with guns on posters,” said Rohini Ramnathan, a radio jockey who anchored Khan’s birthday celebrations on November 2 with fans. The second thing that Khan did was to retain control of his brand, image and the narrative about him by “totally abandoning the mainstream media”, Cherian said.

And third “is the surround sound that is created by his visits to religious shrines, to matches at the recently concluded Cricket World Cup, appearance at the premiere of his daughter’s film — this gives you [Khan] content to play with in the media” as videos of these outings have gone viral, and been covered by the mainstream media.

He has been regularly posting promotional material on social media, including on X where he interacts regularly with his fans through “Ask Me Anything” sessions. He mostly avoids critical questions, picking fawning or funny tweets to which he responds with jokes, compliments and virtual hugs.

A lot of this banter ends up as stories on news sites. “Replying to people one-on-one takes courage and a lot of thinking … That ownership is magical.

That starts changing the vibe,” said Neeraj Joshi, head of marketing at Zee Studios, which produces, distributes and markets films and TV shows. “It is strategic and part of a larger game, but it is also real to a great extent,” he added.

She and Khan are directors of Red Chillies Entertainment, a production house. Delhi-based Narrative Research Lab, which uses AI to study the impact of social media conversations, analysed 310 tweets by Khan from September 16 to November 12 at Al Jazeera’s request and found that the tweet with the highest number of likes was the one in which Khan posted a photo of Lord Ganesha with greetings on the occasion of a Hindu festival.

Predicting The Story Of Jawan [6]

“Ek Raja tha, ek ke baad ek jung haarta gaya, bhookha, pyaasa ghoom raha tha jungle mein….bahut gusse mein tha” When I heard this dialogue in SRK’s deep baritone voice in Jawan’s trailer, of course I was getting goosebumps, but I could not help but relate the dialogue to the consecutive flops he gave before Pathaan and his blockbuster comeback with the high-octane action thriller.

The dialogue could be a metaphor for his streak of flops and his magical comeback to the big screen after 4 years.

Looking at the hype after the trailer, Jawan might carry the torch of Pathaan’s success and continue SRK’s box office rule. © Red Chillies Entertainment.

Shah Rukh Khan in his most massy avatar till date, a blood-thirsty insane villain who is apparently the fourth biggest weapon dealer in the world, the ‘Anirudh Musical’ tag, and of course, the girl gang. © Red Chillies Entertainment.

But say no more, because I watched the trailer for Jawan frame by frame and found out some interesting things in it that might have missed your eyes.

It’s obvious that SRK will appear in a double role in Jawan. Papa SRK and Beta SRK, but there might be one more SRK, who has the bald look in the trailer and the posters.

© Red Chillies Entertainment. One of the SRKs, who will play the father, has a tattoo on his right hand.

He is injured and bandaged, and we see the same tattoo on his hand later. We also see the young SRK, who is a cop and has no such tattoo, getting beaten up in one of the shots when his father comes to his rescue.

© Red Chillies Entertainment. The makers have cleverly covered the forearms of the bald SRK, and he could be the third ‘Humshakal’ altogether, who has some dark shades.

© Red Chillies Entertainment. This scene could be connected to the 1962 Indo-China War and Kaali’s illegal weapon supply in it, and when Major Vikram Rathod, played by SRK, discovers it, Kaali tries to kill him under the cover of the war, and this could set the premise of the story.

© Red Chillies Entertainment. After he joins the army, the Indo-China war breaks out, and he comes across a conspiracy where Kaali, who is a local weapon smuggler, is selling illegal weapons to China or India and calls SRK for a deal, but SRK refuses it, as we saw in the trailer.

Kaali faces a huge loss and decides to seek revenge, so he attacks SRK under cover of war and kills him (but he is saved by the tribals on the border), as we see in the beginning of the trailer, and falsely accuses his family of some conspiracy, which puts them in jail, where twin SRK’s are born. As they grow up, they get to know their father’s backstory.

One of them decides to become a good cop and starts tracking down Kaali by the books, while the other one leaves and decides to hunt him down by any means necessary.

The brothers grow up, and despite having the same goal, they clash multiple times, and Kaali uses it to his advantage and abducts them, when their father comes to the rescue and saves the day. Fin.

Jawan has a big female cast, including Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Leher Khan, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya, Girija Oak Godbole, and Aaliyah Qureishi, who later join bald SRK’s vigilante group.

In one of the frames in the trailer, we see Sanya Malhotra’s character crying in a doctor’s coat, and many other women are crying with her. © Red Chillies Entertainment.

This could be the aftermath of a mass destruction attempt by Kaali.

As a result, the girls join the bald SRK and his gang to seek revenge from him.

For Shah Rukh Khan fans, Jawan is the superstar’s most impactful dual act yet

[7]

With Jawan, Shah Rukh Khan gets the double role act just right. His father and son avatars as Vikram and Azad Rathore are raking it in for the stylish action thriller and the film has already amassed a blockbuster global intake of over Rs 858 crore (and counting) so far.

Jawan directed by Atlee is Shah Rukh Khan’s eighth attempt at playing more than one character in a film, certainly his most popular one yet. He struck gold the very first time he essayed two characters, in Rakesh Roshan’s 1995 film Karan Arjun.

The audience lapped up every bit of drama woven around the Khans, their charisma and double roles, and Karan Arjun was a superhit. However, a year later when Khan attempted a triple role in English Babu Desi Mem, the botched-up rom-com failed to fire.

His next double role was in Don (2006), but the film was more about his antihero act than the impact of a dual performance. He would go on score big with his next double role, though, in Farah Khan’s spectacular Diwali release of 2007, Om Shanti Om, a reincarnation story tailormade for the superstar to flaunt his glamour opposite debutant Deepika Padukone.

His next attempt at a double role was the 2016 thriller, Fan. Although an interesting concept around a superstar and his obsessed lookalike fan, both played by Shah Rukh Khan, the film struggled owing to weak writing and slow pace.

He is in fiery form as ex-commando Captain Vikram Rathore, a role that lets him play the gallery as a traditional ‘hero’. On the other hand, he brings alive Vikram’s son Azad Rathore, a jailer in a woman’s prison, with an irreverent edge toplined with wicked wit.

For Bollywood, the popularity of SRK’s dual act in Jawan has brought back to spotlight the filmi double role as a formula.

This, of course, would seem like the right time to revive the double role in Bollywood. Jawan follows Shah Rukh Khan’s earlier release Pathaan and the Sunny Deol starrer Gadar 2, and the cumulative success of these three films indicates that the days of the larger-than-life masala entertainment have returned in a big way.

And when it comes to mass appeal, double roles are an easy tool for stars to connect with fans. Not surprisingly over the past weeks, big titles said to accommodate top stars such as Salman Khan and Hrithik Roshan in more than one role are suddenly back garnering buzz with their current status.

Double roles have always proved winners for Roshan since his debut romantic blockbuster Kaho Naa… Pyaar Hai and over the years with his Krrish franchise of films. Reports suggest Hrithik is falling back on the dual act formula in the upcoming Krrish 4, too, to strike gold, this time as superhero and supervillain.

The time has come now. You see, the franchise, in order to be continually exciting to its fans, must move forward.

Meanwhile, news also abounds about Anees Bazmee zeroing in on a new hero for his upcoming untitled double-role comedy, after Shahid Kapoor reportedly quit the project. Other double role films in the anvil include the ChaalBaaz In London, a remake of Pankaj Parashar’s 1989 comedy hit ChaalBaaz that starred superstar Sridevi in an unforgettable dual act.

Times have changed since Dadasaheb Phalke adapted the epic Ramayan to make Lanka Dahan, the first Indian film to have an actor in a double role. In that silent film released in 1917, Anna Saheb Salunke played Bhagvan Ram as well as Sita.

Over the years, particularly in the seventies and the eighties, reason for casting the same star in multiple roles became more commercial. It emerged as a saleable tool for producers to draw bigger crowds by casting a big star in multiple roles.

Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan has only proved that certain box office preferences never change in Bollywood. Vinayak Chakravorty is a critic, columnist and journalist who loves to write on popular culture.

The Wonder Years (2001-2010) [10]

Hrithik Roshan hit the ground running, Aamir Khan changed the grammar of storytelling and box-office validation, Akshay Kumar found his funny bone, Sanjay Dutt redefined the social comedy, and Salman Khan returned as a mass hero. Initially, this golden age seemed to liberate Shah Rukh Khan from the pressure of ‘ruling’ the roost.

His on-screen roles became older and wiser: King, tragic, scientist, ghost, coach, husband, bitter husband, older husband, Bollywood star, father. The romances became less aspirational and more practical.

For every Devdas and Asoka, there was a Paheli. For every Karan Johar and Aditya Chopra, there was a Shimit Amin.

But it’s also true that the biggest commercial, cultural and critical hits came from his contemporaries. Movies like Lagaan, Gadar, Munna Bhai M.B.B.S., Dil Chahta Hai, Ghajini and Wanted expanded the parameters of commercial Bollywood.

By 2010, inevitably, the FOMO kicked in for Khan. He stopped marching to his own beat and joined the numbers race – the influence of which would only be evident in the coming decade.

Or even the Luck By Chance cameo. But at a purely objective level, Khan’s restrained ode to the motherland in Ashutosh Gowarikar’s film made patriotism feel personal and elegant at once.

You can’t have Shah Rukh Khan play the jealous jerk in a movie that also features Salman Khan. It just doesn’t add up.

Guilty pleasure: One 2 Ka 4Don’t be a hater. I’m going to stand by this even twenty years later.

Wooot. Have no fear, sartrekid here.

Asoka: — Sex: Sensitive guy — Punch: Long haired guy. Baazigar:

Dilwale: — Sex: Gangster — Sex: Garage owner (no punch, sorry).

— Sex: Dopey dude — Punch: Evil. KKHH:

Sex: Fun Graduate Punch: Fussy Prim. Om Shanti Om:

Ra.One: Sex: Robot Punch: Bad-hair husband.

Asoka: I’m shocked. Surely long haired guy would be more interesting for sex.

Baazigar: Same as above.

I will allow two sexes only if you provide two punches for some other film.

And dopey man won’t know how things work. This whole thing seems very risky.

K3G: See, my concern is that fun graduate won’t know how sex works. While fussy prim husband obviously does (see child as proof).

How can you punch him.

Who wouldn’t be a little curious about sex with a robot.

LikeLike. Ex-cuh-use me.

Okay, then I will take kinky Duplicate because he is incredibly hot for the sex category too and instead ditch the Ra.one robot. It won’t hurt his feelings, I’m sure.

It’s not my choice and I’m just pretending as you’ll never get to be a witness anyway. There.

Also, refresh the post, I just added a well-nigh impossible bonus question. And put in my own answers.

Err… you… you want to make his eyes bug out. Oh my… How on flat earth am I going to get that imagery out of my head now….

This is what I meant by the K3G idea. If you haven’t seen this deleted scene before, enjoy.

Oh wow. Never seen that before indeed.

Bonus. RNBDJ:

Paheli: — Sex: Ghost — Punch: Husband (I’ll do accounts with him to make up for it).

Aha, but here’s the trick. You have to mix and match the two movies.

Suri from RNBDJ or Ghost from Paheli.

LikeLike. Right.

Okay, I will punch Raj and Ghost. Since the ghost is my imagination, it won’t matter.

LikeLike. Oh, nice one on the Ghost loophole.

Many of mine are the same as sartrekid’s. Margaret, I hope you share your answers soon.

Baazigar: — Sex: Responsible guy — Punch: Cocky guy.

— Sex: Garage owner — Punch: Gangster. Duplicate:

KKHH: — Sex: Single Father — Punch: College dude.

Sex: Fun Graduate Punch: Fussy Prim. Om Shanti Om:

Ra.One: Sex: Bad-hair husband (he needs someone to be nice to him, and thick curly hair is nice in bed for various reasons) Punch: Blue-eyed robot (he wouldn’t even feel it, and being a good guy, would not retaliate).

Sex: Suri OF COURSE Punch: Raj but I’d hug him after and apologize. LikeLiked by 1 person.

I want to make his eyes bug out in shocked judgement.

Perhaps combine them into a bonus question. Sex or punch Raj from Rab Ne or Husband from Paheli, Sex or Punch Suri from Rab Ne or Ghost from Paheli.

On Tue, Oct 29, 2019 at 8:42 AM dontcallitbollywood wrote:. >.

Haha, evil genius, Margaret. I thought you were going to come back with something metaphysical, like that Suri and Raj are really two aspects of the same person, so not a double role per se.

The way you feel about fussy prim from K3G is the way I feel about fussy prim cop from One 2 Ka 4. Juhi’s frank, earthy sexuality just shocks him to the core and that is so enjoyable.

Suri vs Ghost: This is the hard one. Suri is my dream man but Ghost has interesting supernatural abilities and clearly knows how to make a woman happy in that department.

Honestly it’s a 50/50 depending on my mood, but today I’m going with Suri. Punching Ghost would just help him learn more about what it is to be human.

LikeLiked by 1 person. Well, now I feel better about poor Husband.

You are already getting freaky with Duplicate Shahrukh, surely that is enough adventure and you can miss out on Ghost in favor of sweet sweet Suri love.

And I have now added my answers above, carefully thought out all of them. LikeLike.

Rookie mistake. I’ll rectify it by sexing young optimistic Shah Rukh from JTHJ (soft tummy) instead of older wiser Shah Rukh from JTHJ (ripped tummy), even though I’m sacrificing the beard.

But older JTHJ Shahrukh is so slow and patient and good with his hands. Young JTHJ Shahrukh just leaps around all the time.

On Tue, Oct 29, 2019 at 10:38 AM dontcallitbollywood wrote:. >.

Are you saying I overestimated the soft tummy factor in this choice. Challa Challa Shah Rukh is goofy at times, but also focused, hard working, creative, generous, and persistent.

That will work for me.

your bonus cracked me up.

So, I just transport me into the movies….wuuuuuushshshsh Who I would rather punch than choose for satisfying sophisticated carnal desires. Asoka – the long haired warrior (telling him to cut his hair and stop waste the time in battles…and then…maybe) Baazigar – responsible…(*jaaaawn* …it’s only for sex, ok.

) Duplicate – evil dude (you’re too crude, too violent, too self-obsessed….if you were like Don…yeah, but you aren’t, so go to hell.

Why did I choose all the other for partners in ‘sex’.

Ok, then, let’s start: Asoka for sensibility and tenderness and patience Baazigar for interesting fighting and teasing Dilwale (well, they are both the same, but I would also choose the young gangster) – both are perfect….

I like how consistently we all want to punch young college dude from KKHH. He’s just really not great.

Too tickly. I will allow it for the ghost assuming he uses his ghost powers to not tickle.

I like your bonus too.

Margaret, I am almost sure that the robot lacks something essential…I remember a gesture, G.One did in the 2nd round of the final fight (the boy shouted to him to do so) and Ra,One looked completely puzzled asking G.One “What are you doing.

” and G,One replied “I don’t know” (and then the 2nd round was over). LikeLiked by 1 person.

And he is all just a figment of artificial intelligence brought into being by will, I feel like he could make himself whatever he needed to be.

LikeLiked by 1 person. Price Albert.

hahahahaha.

This post is fantastic. Asoka: — Sex: Sensitive — Punch: Long haired.

Baazigar: I’ll punch both. Too many daddy issues.

Dilwale: Sex both because this is the HOTTEST SRK has looked.

I like to live dangerously sometimes. Plus, he clearly knows what he is doing.

KKHH: — Sex: Single Father.

Who doesn’t want to sex a hot single father who loves his mother and daughter.

K3G: —Sex: Fun Graduate because Hrithik is still illegal and chubby. —Punch: Fussy Prim because I don’t want to brea.

How Jawan Used Body Doubles For Shah Rukh Khan’s Double Role [13]

Bollywood sensation, Shah Rukh Khan, lent his acting skills to Jawan in two different roles. Following the story of a man named Azad who is determined to rectify all that is wrong in society and is driven by an extremely personal vendetta, Jawan is a thrilling film with an important message.

It earned about $140 million worldwide and has taken the spot of the fifth highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the global box office, leading it well deserving of a spot on the list of Shah Rukh Khan’s best movies. Part of what has made Jawan a box office success is Khan’s superb acting skills.

What made things even more impressive, though, was that Khan not only played the starring role but portrayed another character in the film as well. In Jawan, not only did Shah Rukh Khan play the main character, Azad, but he also played his father, Vikram.

He goes by the name “Vikram Rathore”, as he is trying to avenge his father, who was wrongfully framed as a national traitor. Having Khan play two of the major roles in the film allowed for the famed actor to get increased screen time.

It also made sense that Khan had played both the father and the son for thematic reasons. It emphasized how connected Azad and Vikram always were, despite not having the chance to know one another.

The double portrayal made for an exciting twist that contributed to the movie’s intensity and overall storytelling. In order to accomplish Shah Rukh Khan playing both Azad and Vikram, body doubles were needed.

When Khan was portraying Vikram, Walde would take on the appearance of Azad and vice versa. This meant that only close-up shots of the character that Khan was portraying at the time were able to be filmed.

Because of this, only two looks were able to be shot on any given day. Sources: India Today.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (transl. A Match Made By God), also known as RNBDJ, is a 2008 Indian Hindi-language romantic comedy film written and directed by Aditya Chopra and produced by him and his father Yash Chopra under their banner of Yash Raj Films.

His friend Balwinder “Bobby” Khosla, played by Vinay Pathak, eventually transforms him into the fun-loving actor “Raj Kapoor” to win Taani’s love. The film’s soundtrack was composed by Salim–Sulaiman, and it became the first Bollywood soundtrack to reach the top 10 album sales on the iTunes Store.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released worldwide on 12 December 2008 and marked Chopra’s return to direction after an 8-year hiatus, following his previous directorial venture, Mohabbatein (2000), which also starred Khan. The film was not heavily promoted pre-release by either Khan or YRF, mainly due to uncertainty and apprehensions regarding cinema-market conditions following the terror attacks in Mumbai.

It was declared a year-end super-hit, and at the end of its theatrical run, it grossed over ₹1.57 billion (US$20 million) worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing Hindi film of the year overseas, as well as YRF and Khan’s highest-grossing film at the time.

The film’s script was recognized by a number of critics and was invited to be included in the Margaret Herrick Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, just a day after its release. The script is accessible for research purposes only.

Surinder Sahni is a shy and mild-mannered office employee. He attends the wedding of Taani Gupta, the cheerful daughter of his former professor, Shirish Gupta, and falls in love with her at first sight.

On his deathbed, Gupta asks Surinder to marry Taani, fearing that she will be left alone in the world after his death.

Taani has now become withdrawn and depressed but Surinder treats her with respect and gives her space. the two stay in separate rooms.

Surinder feels awkward as he cannot make them meet a depressed Taani, but is surprised when she shows up.

Surinder asks his best friend Bobby, a hair salon owner, for grooming advice that could help him win Taani’s love and bring her back to her old bubbly self. Bobby gives Surinder a complete makeover, including getting rid of his spectacles, giving him contact lenses, and shaving off his moustache.

To go with the makeover, Surinder changes his personality into the loud and fun-loving “Raj Kapoor” and joins Taani’s competition. He is partnered with her and decides to play the “cool” Raj in public while returning home as the quiet Surinder, leading to comical situations as he tries to balance both roles.

When Raj grandly confesses his love for her, Taani faces an emotional dilemma. Bobby advises Surinder to win her love as himself, not as Raj.

Surinder takes Taani to a trade fair, where he participates in a Sumo-wrestling competition to win airline tickets for Japan. Despite managing to defeat the wrestler, he is severely injured, angering Taani, who demands to know the reason behind his wild actions.

That night, an emotionally distressed Taani goes to meet Raj, who asks her to elope with him. Surinder, heartbroken, tells Bobby that he has decided to let Taani go so she can find some suitable “Raj” for herself.

The next day, Surinder takes Taani to the Golden Temple to pray for her final performance and her happiness. While there, Taani has a change of heart, believing that God has shown her a sign that her marriage with Surinder was divinely planned and inspired.

She tells Raj that she loves Surinder and cannot leave him as it is equivalent to leaving God. Surinder is happy to learn that Taani loves his true self.

At the competition, Taani is shocked to see Surinder joining her on stage as himself instead of Raj. During their performance, she slowly realizes that Raj was none other than Surinder the entire time.

The end credits show the couple visiting Japan for their belated honeymoon.

The filmmakers were confident that it would be able to strike a chord with millions because the film has ordinary people as its target audience:. “As middle-class people, so many of us have a routine life.

And then we repeat this day after day, week after week. Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi talks about one such man who lives a routine life.

In February 2008, Aditya Chopra announced that he will helm another film titled Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and that it will star his lucky mascot, Shah Rukh Khan. The female lead was to be a newcomer who would be chosen following a massive talent hunt for a young, demure woman with quintessential Punjabi features.

Yash Chopra commented:. “We were looking first for someone who could truly embody the spirit of small-town Punjab.

While she has no previous acting experience, we have seen that unique spark in her that makes us confident that she will be a standout even opposite Shah Rukh.”. Sharma was chosen over hundreds of girls for this role and was kept hidden from the media during the filming.

we wanted her work to speak for her. When new actors come into films, it is important for people to see their work and then question them.

Filming began in May 2008. Yash Chopra was present at the shoot.

Khan had to lose the six-pack abs he developed for the song “Dard-E-Disco” from Om Shanti Om (2007) since he was playing the role of a very normal, regular person.

The lyrics of all the songs have been given by Jaideep Sahni. This marks the second collaboration of the composer duo with Shah Rukh Khan after Chak De.

The album was mixed by Vijay Dayal at YRF Studios in Mumbai and was mastered by Brian “Big Bass” Gardner at Bernie Grundman Mastering in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California.

The performance of the song includes appearances by Kajol Devgn, Bipasha Basu, Lara Dutta, Preity Zinta and Rani Mukerji.

Bulgarian pop singer Ivana also made a copy of the same song as “Nedei”.

It is the first Bollywood soundtrack to reach the top 10 album sales for the iTunes Store. According to the Indian trade website Box Office India, with around 19,00,000 units sold, this film’s soundtrack album was the year’s second highest-selling.

Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi was released across 30 countries worldwide on 12 December 2008 on over 1,200 screens, including approximately 300 prints for the overseas market, making it the first time a Bollywood film was released on such a wide scale. Before release, the film witnessed a large volume of advance bookings.

The screening was attended by Khan and his family, Karan Johar, Yash Chopra, and debutante Sharma.

With the trauma of the terrorist attacks on Mumbai city on 26, 27, and 28 November still fresh, there was divided opinion on the release schedule. While some felt that Chopra should go ahead with the release because the.

Shah Rukh Khan’s net worth [16]

While the world gushes over how young Shah Rukh Khan looks even at 57, for true blue SRK fans, he will always remain Jawan. Speaking of which, he has been creating a lot of buzz for his upcoming film.

Waiting with bated breath for the rest of the year ahead, here’s a look at Shah Rukh Khan’s net worth. Growing up overdosing on Bollywood movies, it would be safe to say that Shah Rukh Khan has taught us everything that there is about love and romance.

Shah Rukh Khan is not just an actor, he is an emotion for millions of Indians and his stans globally. The adulation that he has earned throughout his career has also led him to become the fourth richest actor in the world earlier this year, according to a report by World of Statistics.

Shah Rukh Khan was born on 2 November 1965 into a Muslim family in New Delhi, but hails from a mixed lineage. He is part-Hyderabadi from his mother’s side, part-Pathan from his father’s side, and part-Kashmiri from his grandmother’s side.

However, Shah Rukh Khan’s love for acting dates back to his school days, where he would participate in theatres and plays. Later during his college days, he studied and trained to be an actor under the guidance of theatre director Barry John.

But what many don’t know is that his debut show was supposed to be Lekh Tandon’s television series Dil Dariya, for which he began shooting in 1988, but due to several issues, that show got cancelled and he debuted with Raj Kumar Kapoor-directed series Fauji in 1989. From here, he got several other TV soaps, like Aziz Mirza’s Circus and Mani Kaul’s miniseries Idiot.

Initially, he had no plans of working in movies, but that notion quickly changed when his mother passed away. He moved to Bombay and signed four films, the first being Hema Malini’s directorial debut Dil Aashna Hai.

It went on to become a big hit and as a result SRK was born, the King Khan whom we know today.

All of the movies released in 1992, making SRK’s first year a blockbuster year. After becoming a notable name with a series of 1992 blockbusters, the next couple of years were his villain era, quite literally.

This earned him his first first Filmfare Award for Best Actor. It was also the beginning of the much-lauded SRK-Kajol pairing.

He delivered a performance so iconically eerie that more than 30 years later, the film still gives us chills. Literally.

There was also Anjaam with Madhuri Dixit, where he portrayed the role of an obsessed lover yet again, with the same spine-chilling performance. This won him the Filmfare Best Villain Award in 1994.

It is because back then, playing the role of an antagonist came with its own risks. ‘Big heroes’ stayed away from these roles, for they had an image to protect.

Looking at Shah Rukh Khan’s net worth and wealth will not be complete without a thorough look at his romantic roles, the ones which established him as the King of Romance not only in India, but across the globe. 1995 was a big year for SRK, where seven of his films released.

While the rest of the films performed only decently, Karan Arjun and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge went on to become massive hits. In fact, DDLJ is the longest-running film in the history of Indian cinema, which ran at Maratha Mandir in Mumbai for more than 1000 weeks.

Thus began the string of romantic roles for Mr. Khan.

After the phase of romantic flicks, it was time for SRK to show us that his acting skills knew no limits. In Main Hoon Na, he played a soldier in a fictionalised story of Indo-Pak relations.

There was Amol Palekar’s Paheli, where he played a double role, one of which was a ghost. There was, of course, Farhan Akhtar’s Don, where he reprised the role of Amitabh Bachchan’s 1978 film of the same name, and became one of the most stylishly notorious villains in Indian cinema.

Chak De India was a huge turning point in his career, as he played the coach of the Indian Women’s Hockey team, co-starring with 16 girls. There was also his home production Om Shanti Om, which went on to become the highest grossing Indian motion picture of 2007, both in India and abroad.

He played the character of a low self-esteem middle class guy with a clerical job in Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi, trying to win his wife’s heart. Shah Rukh Khan’s filmography has been as rich and diverse as his fan following all around the world.

The fourth richest actor in the world is quite a heavy tag to have. Which is why, his bank balance speaks volumes.

This whopping net worth comes from his earnings from movies, his VFX and production house Red Chillies Entertainment, the multiple brands he endorses, his IPL cricket team Kolkata Knight Riders and his many investments. Reportedly, he has an annual income of INR 280 crore.

Shah Rukh Khan is known to charge about INR 100-150 crore per film, reportedly. For his last film Pathaan, SRK did not charge any remuneration.

That led him to take home about INR 200 crore. Shah Rukh Khan’s biggest business is his ultra-successful production house, Red Chillies Entertainment, that he co-owns with wife Gauri Khan.

Apart from this, he has also invested and owns stakes in startups like Byju’s and Kidzania. SRK has some of the biggest brands in his kitty.

He has endorsed every big brand that you can think of- Pepsi, Dish TV, Big Basket, Tag Heuer, Nokia and many more.

A post shared by Shah Rukh Khan (@iamsrk).

Originally known as Villa Vienna, SRK purchased this swanky sea-facing bungalow in 2001 and named it Mannat, which means ‘wish’ or ‘prayer’. SRK’s second house in London is just the right fit for the King that he is.

Located at the posh neighbourhood of Park Lane in Central London, this villa costs INR 183 crore, if reports are to be believed. Next on the list of a major contributor to Shah Rukh Khan’s net worth is his Dubai villa Jannat.

It features six bedrooms, two remote-controlled garages, a private pool, and a direct connection to waterfront activities like deep-sea fishing. The interiors of this home are done by Gauri Khan Designs.

It costs INR 17 lakh and is powered by a 1868cc BS6 engine mated to an impressive 6-speed gearbox. This engine generates a torque of 155 nm.

His vanity van is proof. This trailer worth INR 5 crore is almost a small, portable palace.

Mannat’s garage is a haven for every supercar lover. It is graced with a Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe, which is priced at INR 7 crore and equipped with a 6.8-litre V12 engine.

18 Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (2008) [17]

Shah Rukh Khan, or Shahrukh Khan, is a Bollywood name that is famous not just within the national borders of India, but far and wide, globally, with some of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies being known internationally. It is Khan who took commercial Bollywood cinema to audiences worldwide in the early 1990s and became a household name with his boy-next-door image and innate charisma and flamboyance.

It was the movie Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge that kicked off his journey as a romantic hero, earning the Bollywood star tags such as “The King of Romance,” making him one of the richest actors in the world, bigger than some of his Hollywood counterparts, and undoubtedly the biggest Indian superstar of his generation.

Main Hoon Na is a Masala film starring Shah Rukh Khan as Major Ram Sharma, a man sent on an undercover mission as a university student to protect a general’s daughter from a rogue soldier. What makes this movie stand out is that it has a little bit of everything, from a high-octane thriller to a high school comedy of errors, to a Bollywood musical.

It was nominated for several awards in 2004, sweeping all six of its nominations at the Global Indian Film Awards. While it’s not the most well-known of his films outside of India, it is still considered by many to be one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies.

However, that movie ended with the twist that Don was pretending to be Vijay the entire time and ended up more powerful than ever by the end. The second movie in the Don franchise has Priyanka Chopra starring as Roma Bhagat, returning from the first movie by joining Interpol to hunt Don down.

Shah Rukh Khan starred in the romantic comedy Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in 2008. In the movie, he plays Surinder Sahni, an office employee who marries Taani (Anushka Sharma).

The two marry, but never fall in love — her being carefree and quite rude, and him being shy and reserved. However, when Surinder creates an alter-ego named Raj Kapoor and cuts loose, they both start to see a new side of each other.

Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham has a wide ensemble cast, and is one of several Shah Rukh Khan movies that don’t solely focus on the Bollywood star. It is a family drama that follows a wealthy family who face troubles when their adopted son marries a woman from a lower economic class.

The movie made over $1 billion at the box office and won eight awards at the International Indian Film Academy Awards. Its budget of almost $8.5 million dollars made it the most expensive Bollywood movie at that point.

Shah Rukh Khan starred in the action thriller Jawan in 2023, and like most of the actor’s movies, it was a huge success. It grossed over $140 million as the highest-grossing Indian film of 2023 and received positive critical reviews.

The son, Azad, teams up to tackle corruption by becoming a vigilante and trying to clear his father’s name while also bringing justice to the oppressed by targeting corrupt bureaucrats. The movie is based on a real-life event where a pediatrician was imprisoned after 60 children died, despite the government being to blame (via India Times).

Shah Rukh Khan’s performance has been a notable highlight among many critical reviews for his performances as both Captain Vikram Rathore and his son Azad. Shah Rukh plays Major Veer Pratap Singh, an Indian Air Force officer who falls for a Pakistani girl, Zaara, in this epic romance, and one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies, that does its bit to bridge the gulf between the two neighboring countries.

Then along comes a young Pakistani lawyer, Samiya, the Amazon Prime Hindi drama, who is assigned Veer’s case and fights tooth and nail for his freedom, in the process uniting him with Zaara who, it turns out, was never married after all. This is probably the only movie that saw Khan playing a young man, as well as an elderly one.

Dear Zindagi is a drama film, and one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies. It focuses on Kaira (Alia Bhatt), a cinematographer who spirals out after finding that her ex has gotten engaged with another woman.

Shah Rukh Khan plays Dr. Jehangir “Jug” Khan in the film, a psychologist who tries to help Kaira.

All in all, the movie was nominated for 14 awards, and though it didn’t win any it still stands out as one of the highlights of Shah Rukh Khan’s extensive filmography. One of the earlier best Shah Rukh Khan movies, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Na, sees a good-for-nothing young man, Sunil, in love with Anna (Suchitra Krishnamurthy), who performs with him in a musical band.

When Sunil finds out, he leaves no stone unturned to draw Anna away from Chris, which ultimately puts him in Anna’s bad books. A romantic comedy in which Khan plays a boy with slightly questionable morals who wouldn’t shy away from lying through his teeth if it suited his purpose.

In addition, the movie won Best Film and Best Actor at the 39th Filmfare Awards. The movie that was Khan’s big break was Darr, and it remains one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies.

Khan earned a lot of praise for his portrayal of the deplorable character, with some of his mannerisms as Rahul becoming as famous as the star himself. The Amazon Prime Hindi movie was nominated for nine awards, winning three at the National Film Awards and the Filmfare Awards.

features the tragic love story of Amar, a news radio producer, and Meghna (Manisha Koirala), a mysterious woman he meets at a train station. After being left and rejected by Meghna, Amar meets and considers marrying another girl named Preeti (Preity Zinta).

has received international acclaim for touching on political events and featuring a sad ending. Shah Rukh’s performance in the film has also been praised, as he was able to excellently portray a torn, but heroic, character.

A powerful revenge drama movie and one of the best Shah Rukh Khan movies, Baazigar tells the story of Ajay Sharma, whose father (Anant Mahadevan) had been betrayed by Madan Chopra (Dalip Tahil), a lowly employee who ousted Sharma’s dad and took possession of his burgeoning empire, eventually becoming a wealthy business tycoon.

Ajay grows close to Chopra’s older daughter, Seema (Shilpa Shetty), who he ends up killing to set the ball rolling for his elaborate charade. He then changes his name and seduces Chopra’s younger daughter, Priya (Kajol), who immediately falls for him and he with her.

Khan plays a cold-blooded killer in the horror movie, in another anti-hero role after the film, Darr. All in all, Baazigar ended up garnering critical acclaim and won four awards, including Best Actor for Khan, at the 39th Filmfare awards.

Khan himself actually plays two parts in the film, that of the Bollywood star Aryan Khanna and an overly obsessed fan, Gaurav Chandna, who ironically looks exactly like him. Gaurav wins a lookalike contest and wants to.
