Grocery and convenience stores are best if you just need to change a dollar or two. Fast food branches will work pretty much just like a grocery store or convenience store.

As with a grocery store or convenience store, you might be asked to buy something to get change, so consider getting the cheapest option on the menu. Don’t try getting more than a couple of dollars either, as their coinage is going to be limited.

One of the best things about arcades is that they have change machines that can offer a lot of coins. Sometimes, these change machines may be running low, or may not dispense quarters, but in most cases, they’ll suit your purposes just fine.

Especially useful for when you’re on a road trip, you’re not as likely to stop at an arcade, but you will see gas stations on your way. Even way out in the boonies, these places are likely to have cash registers with some coins.

Finding a local pharmacy that may be able to provide you with a dollar or two worth of quarters is another viable option to consider in your search for change. Just be mindful that smaller locations may not be able to accommodate your request for quarters.

Furthermore, many are open all day, every day of the week. And most of them are going to have change machines available.

The first place you might think of when you need to exchange dollar bills for quarters is the bank and you’re mostly correct that it’s a good place to check out. Banks will have “quarter rolls” which are rolls full of 40 quarters that comes out to $10.

Of course, you can ask for less than that, it just makes thing easier when your request is in $10 increments.

If you are a customer of that bank (meaning you have something like a checking account or savings account) they should honor your request. In that case, you could also make a withdrawal specifically for quarters or simply tell the teller that you’re in need of quarters.

If you are not a customer, you might be met with some resistance for your request. For example, some banks might be hesitant to honor your request and say something like “we don’t exchange money here” (because what kind of financial institution would do something of the sort, right.

Sometimes you can simply ask them to make a one-time exception and they might do it. Your odds of them saying yes to your request are better with smaller amounts.

Other banks like Wells Fargo might be more accepting and will honor your request even if you are not a customer but many times it just comes down to your specific location and what kind of day the teller has had.

Just watch out for the bank fees which could end up costing you something like $10 or $15 a month and thus not be worth it in many cases. Also be on the lookout for ways to get free money when opening up an account.

Many stores, such as grocery stores, gas stations, and some pharmacies, will exchange your dollar bills for quarters but you’ll typically need to make a purchase. For a grocery store, you can simply purchase something like a piece of candy or bottle of water and then ask for change in quarters.

At these desks, you may not have to make a purchase at all and they may be more willing to give up rolls of quarters. This would be my recommenced approach.

Depending on how they are stocked in their register, stores may have to limit your quarter request to a certain amount. Often you may be limited to only $5 or $10 worth of quarters but this type of thing will just depend on the place.

You could also insert a larger bill into a vending machine to get quarters. For example, you could insert a $5 to pay for a $1 snack and get 16 quarters back.

The only risk with this is that if the machine is low on quarters, it’s possible that it could spit you out dimes. Also, these typically only work on more “old-school” vending machines.

This same type of trick could be applied to other machines where quarters are often used like car washes, arcades, etc. Car washes can be good places if you need change late at night when other places are closed.

If you need quarters for laundry, many laundromats should have change machines located inside and many are also open late at night or even open 24/7. Back when I lived in Berkeley, California, I don’t recall a laundry mat ever NOT having a change machine on the inside but I know many others are not so lucky.

The only problem was that occasionally that machine would run out of change or it would not be functioning so be prepared with a back up plan.

Your use takes a toll on the machine and could cost the business owner maintenance costs and inconvenience their paying customers. Street performers often have a lot of change, such as quarters.

Having a large bill on display could help their odds of getting bigger tips but they might also ask for more value in the exchange so you might have to trade $5 in cash for $4 in quarters, etc. If you’re dealing with quarters a lot there’s something you should know.

This means that the silver in those quarters makes the quarter worth much more than 25 cents. Of course, you can’t use the quarter for more than 25 cents at a store but you could hold on to that quarter and potentially sale or trade it.

Tip: The best back-up plan is to have a stash of quarters. Whenever you pull out quarter rolls or you get quarters you should always try to pick up an amount that is 2X or 3X the amount you’ll need at that time.

A full quarter roll contains 40 quarters. 40 quarters comes out to $10.

100 quarters comes out to $25. Many vending machines do not take 20s unless they have the ability to give change in dollar bills.

Pre-1965 quarters were made of 90% real silver and are worth much more than 25 cents. The exact value will depend on the silver spot at the time but the quarter could be worth around $3.50.

As we move more into the future, I’m sure coins will eventually be completely obsolete. But for now, many people still need to use quarters for various purposes and some even depend on them for daily tasks like laundry or even parking.

But, business and bank closures that have been associated with the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted the normal circulation patterns for U.S. coins.

Things are set to improve though. The Federal Reserve works with the U.S.

According to the Federal Reserve, the U.S. Mint has been operating at full production capacity since mid-June of 2020, and in that year, it produced 14.8 billion coins, a 24% increase from the 11.9 billion coins produced in 2019.

The U.S. Coin Task Force still regularly meets until coin circulation has been normalized.

Here’s where you can get quarters near you…. The first and most obvious place to visit when you need quarters (as well as dimes, nickels & pennies) is your local bank.

It’s a good idea to call ahead though to check if that bank offers change to people who aren’t a member of that bank. Most grocery stores like Trader Joe’s, Walmart, or local stores, will offer change since they have plenty of coins in the cash registers, as well as at the customer service desk.

If you do go to the register instead, you may need to make a small purchase first. A can of soda, gum or a piece of fruit is a good option if you’re looking to break a bill without having to spend much money.

Convenience stores like 7-Eleven will provide change to customers. They don’t have as many coins on hand as a grocery store would but they’re still a good option.

Convenience stores are best if you just need to change a dollar or a few dollars. Next time you are filling up on fuel, consider getting some quarters.

Again, as with convenience stores, it can be a good idea to only ask for smaller denominations. Like with grocery stores, you may need to make a purchase first.

Even if you have to buy something, purchase a small item like candy for a dime, pay with a dollar bill and ask for a few 25¢ coins when getting your change back. Or you could ask for change to pay for air.

Laundromats can be a convenient place to get quarters since many of them are open 24/7. You can get coins no matter what time of day.

If you need quarters for laundry, then this is a good choice because some places require you to do a load of laundry in order to get your change. Do check the details first before you use the machine to change your dollar bill.

Like laundromats, some car washes require quarters to operate. This means that they have a change machine nearby.

Of course, if it’s a car wash that you need the quarters for, then skip that step. Some pharmacies like CVS, Rite Aid, and local pharmacies will give out coins to customers who ask for them.

Just ask politely and keep in mind that you may have to buy something to get your quarters. It’s a good idea to ask for a smaller amount of change than you would at, say, a bank.

Well, then this could be a good place for you to get some quarters. Because most arcades have change machines that offer a lot of coins, this can be such a great way to get rolls of quarters.

Your local fast-food joint could be a good place to pick up some quarters. Since many fast food places work like grocery stores and gas stations do in that they take money into the register, they often provide coins.

I would recommend going at a time when you’re hungry because you may need to purchase something in order to get change. But there are a lot of cheap options on most fast-food menus, right.

They might not offer as much change as some of the other options on the list, but for getting change for a few bucks, fast food establishments are a good choice. I know that I’ve gotten change at the check-in desk of hotels that I have stayed in.

So, I just asked the concierge at the desk if they would be able to give me some smaller bills and they did. I’m sure that if I had asked for coins, they would have happily given those to me as well.

Just like at a hotel, you may also be able to get some change from a motel. Just ask at the check-in desk.

Sometimes libraries have change machines nearby, so if you have one near you, then you may be able to get some quarters. So, check for nearby libraries to see if there’s a change machine you could use to get some coins.

Basically, you insert a dollar into the vending machine but instead of buying anything, you simply press the “change return” button. Because some vending machines, particularly the older machines, aren’t able to dispense notes, they give you your money back in four quarters.

If you’re looking for a larger amount of change than you would get at, say, a grocery store, convenience store, or fast-food place, then you might want to visit your local big box store. If you have any big box stores near you, then you may be able to get some quarters there.

They will likely have a lot of coins in the register. So this can be a good place to get larger denominations.

It’s a good idea to check at the customer service desk, as they may be able to offer more guidance, and you don’t have to worry about holding up the queue at the checkout. Next, we have the bowling alley.

Or you could ask for change if you purchase any food or drinks at the bowling alley. Okay, so a lot of people want to know if they can get quarters from Coinstar.

Coinstar actually provides the opposite service. You use Coinstar to convert coins to cash.

It was Sunday and we were there around 10:30am, so there’s only one option available to us at that time, the brunch menu. It’s a set brunch and there’s only one menu, no other option available, so you eat what they give you.

It’s a charming little place. Well, it’s a house, I mean, a real house, it’s a very charming little house.

The whole place has an overall rustic feel, with a touch of hip dashing in it, a very quiet and comfortable environment to have a meal.

Which is great, it gives you that private feeling, feel like you are eating in your friend’s house.

I should have sang, but I am not sure if I can actually sing or not, I don’t want scare people away, ha~.

I never had grits before, just never had the opportunities. The grits it self doesn’t have much taste (but strangely refreshing, I don’t even think you should use refreshing to describe grits), I learn that I should add sugar or syrups or sauces and spices to make it either sweet or savory, very interesting.

What stand out for me is the waffle, fried chicken and the salmon croquette, those are some of the best I have tasted. The smothered potatoes however are a bit too garlicky for me, but it goes very well with the unseasoned grits, together, they are a great combination, maybe that’s the intention all along.

Overall, its a cohesive menu, everything goes well together, save me the hassle of trying to order a bunch of things that make sense, that’s hard especially at this hour when the brain is still craving for more sleep, so it is a very harmonious set brunch indeed. And everything is organic, that’s a plus~.

No I didn’t, so I am telling you now, that’s the one thing you do not want to miss. You have two choices here, the lemon mimosa or the blueberry mimosa.

They are right. The blueberry mimosa is very tasty and super refreshing, perfect for waking me up on a late Sunday morning~.

They do their best to engage their customer in a conversation, but at the same time giving you enough room to enjoy your meal with your company. But they are also asking you to take some responsibility in your dining experience, in the most respectful way of course, such as, you were asked to pour you own water and search and choose for your own condiments.

The overall experience is great, and I love the environment and the people running it. As far as food goes, although everything taste good, but it left me with something to desire.

But from the taste of each item, I felt there’s a lot more good thing waiting for me here. So I must go back again to try the rest of their fantastic menu to have a full understanding of what they offer.

The Food. Overall, the food was good, however, it is missing in the wow factor, it was a very common and regular brunch menu with a Southern twist.

Really hope they have other option in the brunch menu, at least options on part of the items. Imagine you went there with 10 other people and everyone is eating the same thing … it took some excitement out of the experience.

You are basically serve by one person only. But she has a big personality and very friendly, she treat you the way a family member treat you, you felt right at home as soon as you meet her, she is more than enough for the whole room.

Quiet, peaceful, comfy and homey, you are basically eating in a house, and it felt just like eating in your fav aunt house, very relaxing. Overall.
