Pikachu Valley is a unique feature of Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon where you will be able to play with loads of adorable Pikachu. Along with this comes a few unique rewards and the opportunity to get the exclusive I Choose You Cap Pikachu.

All of the Pikachu is intractable and can be played with. Keep this in mind as one of these Pikachu will be key in obtaining a brand new Z-crystal that only Pikachu can use, Pikashunium Z.

Using the game’s built in QR code scanner with the Nintendo 3DS camera you can activate the event and get the I Choose You Cap Pikachu in-game. After scanning the QR code you will need to head to Pikachu Valley and speak to a man standing next to a Pikachu themed trailer in a yellow and blue striped shirt.Talk to this NPC and you will you will receive the Pikachu if you have space in your party.

After receiving the I Choose You Cap Pikachu, a new Pikachu will appear on the top right of Pikachu valley. If you have the I Choose You Cap Pikachu on your team, the NPC Pikachu will give you the Pikashunium Z.

On the west side of Pikachu Valley is a guide who will ask if you want to try the Pikachu professor quiz. If you answer all of her questions right, you’ll be rewarded with a Pikachu shirt and Pikachu cap.

Question 1: By what part of a Pikachu’s body can you tell whether it’s a male or a female. Answer: Tail.

Answer: Electric Sacs. Question 3: What do you need to evolve a Pikachu into a Raichu.

Question 4: How is a Shiny Pikachu different from more common Pikachu specimens. Answer: Its coloring is darker.

Pikachu is of course back in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, and there’s a few ways to add one to your Paldean Pokédex. We’ve detailed how to get Pikachu in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet below, including how to get a special Flying Pikachu.

On this page: It’s good and bad news for Pikachu fans, as the electric mouse is available from pretty early on in the game, but you’ll need some luck to spot one in the wild.

The earliest you can get a Pikachu, is by searching northwest of Los Platos, on your way to the academy. While getting the ability to climb will get you to the Pikachu location easier, you can actually jump across a gap to the southwest of Los Platos to get around the cliffs and climb up to near the river in the northwestern corner, where Pikachu spawn.

If it’s just one Pikachu you’re after, then you might want to try catching a Pichu instead, then evolving it into Pikachu. Pichu are found all around Los Platos, and although they’re also marked as rare in the Pokédex, we managed to spot one on both occasions we went searching.

Pichu requires you to raise your friendship level with it, however. So give it a Soothe Bell, use it in battles, feed it items that raise friendship, and it will eventually evolve into Pikachu when it levels up with a high enough friendship.

Shiny Pikachu hunters should instead wait until they get to the northwestern region of Paldea, as there’s a larger area of land that Pikachu can spawn there. This raises your chances of coming across one in the wild.

We’ve explained exactly how to do this is our Mystery Gift page, but in summary, you need to progress with the First Day of School quest and go to a Pokémon Center to unlock the Poké Portal, which is now available in the menu. Select it, then ‘Mystery Gift’, then ‘Get via Internet’.

This counts as the Pikachu entry for your Pokédex. So if you just want Pikachu to complete your dex, this is the best way to do so at launch.

After this, there’s no way to get a Tera Flying-type Pikachu through regular gameplay. For more help in Paldea, we’ve got a walkthrough, including help with the Starfall Street, Victory Road, and Path of Legends stories.

Z-Moves and Z-Crystals are new features to Pokémon Sun and Moon that add a bit of spice to battling. Z-Moves are essentially super moves.

On the flipside, many of them can use Z-Moves against you. This Pokemon Sun and Moon guide will tell you how to find all the Z-Crystals.

Pokémon-specific Z-Crystals need to be held by a Pokémon of that particular species, and said Pokémon must know a specific move for it to work. For instance, Snorlax can only use the Snorlium-Z Crystal to execute “Pulverizing Pancake” if it knows Giga Impact.

You’ll find most of the general Z-Crystals as you work through Pokémon Sun and Moon’s story, but finding the Pokémon-specific Z-Crystals is a bit trickier. This guide helps you track down all the Z-Crystals available.

Normialium Z (Normal-type Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after Illima’s Trial.

Waterium Z (Water-type Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after Lana’s Trial.

Grassium Z (Grass-type Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after Captain Mallow’s Trial.

Electrium Z (Electric-type Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after your Trial at the Hokulani Observatory.

Ghostium Z (Ghost-type Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after Acerola’s Trial.

Poisonium Z (Poison-type Z-Crystal) — You get this from Plumeria in Vast Poni Canyon.

Flynium Z (Flying-type Z-Crystal) — Use Machamp Shove to move the boulder near the exit at Ten Carat Hill.

Tapunium Z (The Tapus’ Z-Crystal) — You get this as part of the story after beating the Pokémon League and challenging Tapu Koko. The Tapu needs to know Nature’s Madness to use the Crystal.

Decidium Z (Decidueye’s Z-Crystal) — You’ll either get this as part of the story if you choose Rowlet as your starter, or you’ll get it from Hau after you beat the game’s story. Decidueye needs to know Spirit Shackle to use the Crystal.

The Pokémon Sun and Moon release date is nearly upon us at last, and we’ve managed to eek out a ton of gameplay secrets that you need to know before you start playing.

We’re still not quite sure how we feel about that right now, as that’s been a mainstay of the series since forever.

You’re working towards being crowned the “Island Challenge Champion”. You’ll need to take on Totem Pokémon, work through Seven Trials scattered across the various islands of Alola, and even battle the Kahunas – incredibly strong trainers that are really in sync with Pokémon.

“As this is the 20th anniversary of Pokémon, I really wanted to design something to celebrate all these years of the series,” explained Ohmori-san.

Rather than the traditional trainer-vs-trainer gym battles, we’ve actually got trainers taking on these Totem Pokémon that have lived in these locations in Alola for a long time and become really strong. “As players go round and experience this story, we want them to experience this whole new approach and hopefully a fresh experience too.”.

Another mainstay of Pokémon gameplay over the past 20 years has been HMs – those permanent Pokémon moves that you need to traverse the landscape, such as Cut, Strength, Fly, Surf and so on.

It seems that the new Poké Ride system is going to be the way you get around that HM business in Sun and Moon. You can call in Pokémon that aren’t in your team to help you out, like Charizard to fly you around, Tauros to smash through massive rocks, or even Sharpedo to ride you across the waves.

That frees up your party and your Pokémon’s move slots for actually awesome moves.

There’s been a move away from the Mega Evolutions of Pokémon X&Y and Pokémon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire in favour of Sun and Moon’s new Z-Moves.

“Mega Evolutions are something you’ll be able to get into after completing the main story of the game, so you’ll be able to discover that aspect of things again,” said Ohmori-san. “Then hopefully by combining the Mega Evolution with Z-Moves, this will give birth to even more possibilities in battle.”.

Z-Moves certainly have an advantage over the rather limited Mega Evolutions too. Using your new spangly Z-Ring bracelet, it’ll unlock super-powered versions of normal Pokémon moves.

But that’s not all. Z-Moves can be used by all and any of your Poké friends.

“The reason we’ve introduced Z-Moves this time around is to really broaden the range of Pokémon that people feel like they can use in battles,” explained Ohmori-san. “Perhaps there were some Pokémon previously that weren’t so usable or weren’t so popular among trainers, but now we’ve got these Z-moves, which are really powerful moves that ANY Pokémon can use.

I personally am really excited for players to discover this aspect and coming up with new strategies, because I think it will change the environment of Pokémon battles quite a lot.”.

It’ll tell you, in percent, how many you’ve caught from the off, so it’s a lot easier to check at a glance.

You might baulk at the idea of having to battle the same Pokémon over and over again, but in Pokémon Sun and Moon it’s not a totally awful thing.

When you’ve tacked a foe before, the next time you battle them you’ll notice that there are “effective”, “super effective” or “not effective” notifications next to each of your Pokémon’s attacks, letting you know the best way to beat them.

Forget stuffing your pockets full with paralyse heals, antidotes, awakenings and more because it just got really easy to cure your Pokémon’s status conditions without spending money or rushing back to a Pokémon Centre.

After battles, you’ll be given the option to care for your Pokémon, heal their ailments, feed them a few tasty Pokébeans or even clean them up.

Gone are the days where you’d have to go to two different buildings to heal your Pokémon and stock up on Poké Balls, because there’s now just one destination for all your Poké needs.

No, Pokémon didn’t just get a little more 18-rated, it’s all about juices and milks and other tasty beverages for your child-self and your Pokémon.

What’s really the point in having a PC box stuffed full of Pokémon doing absolutely nothing.

It’s a series of islands that your Pokémon can play in and explore while they’re sitting in your PC for storage. They will develop facilities on your islands and you’ll even start gathering rare items or bettering your supposedly idle Pokémon.

“Perhaps exploring caves and things, and discovering things for themselves, outside of the main game.”.

Remember Pokémon Snap, that awesome game from back in the GameCube days. Well it’s coming back, kind of.

“You can go around town and take pictures of Pokémon in their natural environment, which we think will be really fun for people to discover.”. Sometimes the Pokémon you take photos of will attack you too, so it could potentially be one of the only ways to nab yourself a rare critter.

Mimikyu (ミミッキュ, Mimikkyu) is a Pokémon species in Nintendo and Game Freak’s Pokémon franchise, designed by Megumi Mizutani for the 2016 video games Pokémon Sun and Moon. It is referred to as the “disguise Pokémon” in the series due to its appearance, which resembles a ragdoll form of Pikachu.

According to Pokédex entries, Mimikyu is a lonely creature who wears the disguise in order to seek affection from humans within the Pokémon world. However, in the animated series, Mimikyu is shown to be hostile towards Pikachu, often attacking Pikachu on sight.

Developed by Game Freak and published by Nintendo, the Pokémon series began in Japan in 1996 with the release of the Pokémon Red and Blue video games for the Game Boy. In these games, the player assumes the role of a Pokémon Trainer whose goal is to capture and train creatures called Pokémon.

The ultimate goal of the games is to complete the entries in the Pokémon index (Pokédex), a comprehensive Pokémon encyclopedia, by capturing, evolving, and trading to obtain creatures from all Pokémon species.

The Pokémon itself hides underneath a tattered cloak, that is shaped like Pikachu, with black eyes, orange cheeks, a black mouth, a lightning bolt-shaped stick that resembles a tail, and ears that are black on the top. A pair of beady black eyes can be seen in the lower area of its costume, and a vague semblance of a lower body can be seen at its costume’s hem.

The cloak is so shabby and worn that it is almost unrecognizable as Pikachu, but Mimikyu wears it in the hopes of being loved and accepted, as its true form is said to be too horrifying to behold.

It changes its appearance when hit by an attack. Its ability, “Disguise”, allows it to avoid damage from an enemy attack once during a battle.

It can be found on Ula’ula Island in the Abandoned Thrifty Megamart. It appears in a totem Pokémon in both Sun and Moon, and Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon.

Mimikyu appears in Pokémon Sword and Shield during foggy weather, in a section of the Wild Area named Giant’s Mirror. Mimikyu is also present in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, found near ruins and in a forest called Tagtree Thicket.

Mimikyu also appears in Pokémon Unite, Pokémon Rumble Rush, Pokémon Shuffle, Pokémon Masters EX, Pokkén Tournament DX, and Pokémon Go.

Meowth, being able to understand Mimikyu, is terrified by the unheard horrifying things it says. When the two of them begin to battle, Meowth lifts Mimikyu’s disguise, and is nearly killed by the sight of its true appearance.

Mimikyu also made a short appearance in the anime Pokémon Journeys: The Series, in the episode “That New Old Gang of Mine. ” In the episode, when Ash and Pikachu are searching for their friend Goh, Mimikyu can be found in the foreground carrying a Pinap berry, alongside a Bewear, Stufful, and Mareanie.

Mimikyu appears in a music video rapping about itself that was uploaded to the official Pokémon YouTube channel, in Japanese. Mimikyu also starred alongside Scraggy in a Looney Tunes-styled animation short uploaded to the Japanese Pokémon Kids TV YouTube channel.

Mimikyu makes an appearance in the 16th chapter of the manga Pokémon Adventures, authored by Hidenori Kusaka and published by Shogakukan.

Ultimate, it can be summoned with the Pokéball item, in which it will try to grab and damage a fighter when summoned. Mimikyu also appears as a Spirit in this game.

To promote Mimikyu, the Pokémon Company release a short video called Mimikyu no Uta, in which a Mimikyu raps in Japanese explaining what it is. Items featuring the character were sold in retail shops in Japan beginning on September 22, 2018.

A special Ditto-Mimikyu plush, with the former Pokémon imitating the latter, was released alongside four other Ditto imitation stuffed toys. In 2019, the Pokémon Company dedicated the month of October to Mimikyu.

In 2020, a gold, silver, and platinum necklace of Mimikyu was created by U-treasure. A Halloween Mimikyu themed meal was also released in the Japanese Pokémon Cafe during the same year, while in 2021 an Ichiban Kuji for Mimikyu featured a tea and sweets theme.

On December 7, 2022, Peach John released a collaboration with Pokémon that included a Mimikyu themed 3-piece lounge suite.

this also placed it 3rd overall in the competition.

She additionally noted Mimikyu’s immense popularity with fans since it was revealed, a statement echoed by Catrina Dennis of Inverse.

Madeline Virtue of Dualshockers called it one of the series’ best designed characters, calling it “a star of the Pokémon world since its debut” and praising how well its design worked with the gameplay aspect of Mimikyu’s Disguise ability.

From the Heahea City entrance, there will be a route sign and a patch of tall grass to the right. Enter the tall grass, then head directly east, while keeping close to the south.

Next, wade through the tall grass to the north, back onto the main path. Doing this also allows you to the skip the trainer waiting at the end of the first patch of tall grass.

A pure Grass-type that you can catch starting from the next route. Water, Rock and Ground-types should stay away, while Fire, Flying, Ice and Bug-types will have a field day.

Before the slope leading up, there will be a narrow path going east. Squeeze along the path and search the rock at the end for a hidden Tiny Mushroom.

At the top, there’s an idle Pokémon Breeder staring into space. Go south from her position and search the outcrop besides the slope for another hidden item–a Super Potion.

On the other side of the grass is a Pokémon trainer eager to surprise you. If you want to avoid a battle, wade through the tall grass along its north side.

Two rare Pokémon native to Mememele Island. Munchlax is the baby version of Snorlax, found on Route 1 along the boulder path.

Bagon is a rare find along the southern half of Route 3 and an uncommon find in Kala’e Bay. Ice or Fairy-types are ideal for this lil dragon.

After you’ve safely stashed it away, go back through the grass. North from here, past the small slope, is a pair of tourists patrolling a thin, grassy hill.

It’s an old-skool Rattata rather than the Normal/Dark-type one found in Alola. That means it’s only weak to Fighting-types, but it’s a pretty weak Pokémon in general, so practically any half-decent Pokémon will get the job done.

Look, it’s the same Meowth that your Mom has. Similar to Scotty’s Rattata, this plain old Meowth is not a Dark-type and a Normal-type instead.

North-west from the hill, between the two trainers, is an entrance to a new area–Pikachu Valley–via a zigzag-shaped path. Before entering, search the small corner along the north-west side of the thin hill for a hidden Dire Hit.

Before following the dirt trail east, go south through the nearby tall grass, to find an Adrenaline Orb at the end. By the way, if you want to avoid the pair of trainers, the easiest way is to run towards the east side of the hill, while Scotty is looking to the west, then leap over the south-east ledge.

To explore Pikachu Valley though, you’ll instead need to dash north from the small slope once Scotty has started walking to the right. After visiting the valley, you can bide your time until Perdita starts walking east, then run east above her.

After that shocking little detour, follow the remainder of the path east, then south-east down the gentle slope. At the base of the slope is a small patch of tall grass–trudge east through it.

Before waltzing in, head directly south, into some more tall grass. At the end of this grassy path is an Energy Root.

At the far end is a berry stack, but the path to it is being guarded by a trainer frantically looking left and right. If you’re feeling super sneaky, you can actually sneak by without a fight.

Immediately once he’s looking left, run east while hugging the wall as close as possible, aiming to reach the right side of the berry stack. After harvesting, simply run back when he starts looking left again.

The best way to handle it is with Fire, Rock, Poison or Steel-types. That’s a lot of options, but if you have none of those, anything that’s not Grass, Fighting, Psychic, Dragon or Dark ought to do fine.

For a change, you won’t ever need to come back here again, except to catch any Pokémon you’ve missed, etc. Once you’re ready to proceed, head on into Paniola Town.

Eevee, the evolution Pokémon, is the jewel of this route. Depending on what item you use or the circumstances, it can evolve into one of 7 possible Pokémon, each with their own Type.

Mudbray is a slow but steady Ground-type–ones with the Stamina ability are the most useful, as they gain Defense when hit by physical moves. Lillipup has the same problems that plague Normal-types and Igglybuff is hard to recommend because it’s a bag of hot air and not much else.

Pokémon has been around for over two decades now and, ever since its 1996 debut, has become a global phenomenon, with a unique blend of strategic gameplay, creative character design, and enticing ‘catch them all’ premise that has captured the imaginations of millions.

This means that there will undoubtedly be more content hitting our screens in the coming years, especially if even more lovable Pokémon are added to the franchise’s Pokédex. But how can you watch new content if you haven’t religiously followed the series and films.

The following list includes an ideal order to watch the main series and films. As for the short episode arches that Pokémon has released on the side, you can mostly watch those once you have the general idea of Pokémon itself.

Nintendo is offering avid fans of 3DS Pokemon games, “Pokemon Sun And Moon” to get the fan-favorite Charizard and one of the six available Ash Hat Pikachu in the video game. Check out the simple guide on how and when to get these giveaways below.

The US-based retailer will be distributing Charizard codes in early October. Gamers can ask for the code from any Target store for the fire-type Pokemon and final form of Charmander from October 1 to October 4.

Charizard comes with the stat-boosting Dragon Dance move with Flare Blitz, Fly, and Earthquake. It is noted, however, that these codes will only be available while supplies last, so fans should hurry up to get them as soon as they can.

Typically, players must follow the steps below to redeem the code: Meanwhile, in celebration of “Pokemon the Movie: I Choose You” as the 20th film in the Pokemon franchise, Nintendo is also giving away Ash Hat Pikachu to all players of the 3DS game.

The movie already premiered in Japan back in July and is still slated for release in other regions in November. Ash Hat Pikachu is available in six editions from September 19 to October 30, each with individual expiration dates.

To get Ash Hat Pikachu, gamers have to go to Mystery Gift menu of either of the two games. Click receive, then key in PIKACHU20.

And the end result, a newly hatched, baby Pokémon, makes the process rewarding. Here are a few things about breeding Pokémon in Pokémon Sun and Moon that you need to know.

That’s due to a feature called Individual Values, or “IVs.”. IVs are like a Pokémon’s DNA.

IVs determine what a Pokémon’s stats look like, high or low. Once you’ve hatched any 20 eggs you can speak to a character in the lobby of the Battle Tree on Poni Island to gain the ability to easily check any Pokémon’s IVs, a feature new to Sun and Moon.

And that’s why you must breed to get perfect competitive Pokémon. By selectively breeding across multiple generations, you can get the highest possible stats for your Pokémon.

That’s because in-game, you can simply level your Pokémon above your opponents’ levels, and gain an unbeatable advantage (not to mention most players are smarter than the game-controlled opponents). But in competitive and online battling all Pokémon are the same level, and Pokémon without perfect IVs are at a serious disadvantage.

When you drop two Pokémon off at the daycare they’ll eventually make an egg, if they’re in the same egg group. Note that they don’t need to be the same type or species of Pokémon — just the same egg group.

However, any Pokémon can breed with Ditto, which is important. Thanks to egg groups, a Dratini and a Magikarp will happily make eggs together, and whichever Pokémon is female determines what comes out of those eggs.

you can’t hatch a Ditto). If the parents in the daycare are holding no items, the Pokémon that hatch from their eggs will have a random nature, while the female Pokémon has a greater chance to pass its ability down if the parents have different abilities.

There are items you can use to adjust those odds, which we’ll discuss in the next section. Those are the basics of breeding.

The most important factor when breeding Pokémon is the items that the parents are holding: There are two other important things you need to make sure you have:

Most competitive Pokémon only need five perfect IVs to be viable, since most Pokémon only use one attack stat (either attack or special attack) and the unused attack stat doesn’t matter. If the parents you’re breeding have the five perfect stats you’re looking for between them, Destiny Knot gives a good chance that all five will be passed down.

One thing that can help a lot is to catch a Ditto with its own perfect IVs, which is easier than ever in Pokémon Sun and Moon thanks to a new feature called “ally chaining.”.

After a 40-Pokémon chain, the new arrivals are guaranteed to have at least 4 perfect (31) IVs. Having a Ditto with four perfect stats gives you an advantage when breeding.

Let’s do a hypothetical. You’re trying to breed a Mimikyu with perfect 31s in HP, Attack, Defense, Special Defense, and Speed, plus a “jolly” nature that raises its speed and lowers its special attack (the one stat this Mimikyu, a physical attacker, won’t need).

(And in the meantime you can send all the rejects off through Wonder Trade. ).

For example, many Pokémon have special “egg moves” — attacks they can only learn through breeding with Pokémon of a different species (possible thanks to egg groups). Want a Tyranitar with Dragon Dance.

That’s just one example, and there are countless combinations. This muddies the process significantly, though it can be worth it to surprise opponents with advanced strategies.

The easiest way to get them is through ally chaining, which makes Pokémon with hidden abilities more likely to appear. Hidden abilities are sometimes better than a Pokémon’s normal abilities, like Venusaur, whose hidden ability double its speed stat in battle during “sunny” weather.

(If you happen to have a Pokémon with impeccable statistics but the wrong qualifications, you can purchase a pricey item called an Ability Capsule to modify it. Remember that doing this will not change its hidden ability, so we suggest ally chaining if that’s what you’re aiming for).

If you wish to trade bottle caps, you’d have to raise your Pokémon’s IVs significantly higher than their natural levels. This artificial measurement boost plays a helpful hand in battles but won’t affect the genetic makeup of your Pokémon.

After you’ve artificially formed your preferred Pokémon, there are still a ton of things you need to tackle before it can be ready for battle. We recommend checking out our guide on competitive Pokémon battling to discover what you’ll need to do to prepare your Pokémon.

We do want to point out that no one truly knows how Pokémon eggs are formed. For that reason, it’s pretty common to breed your hatched Pokémon with their parent Pokémon to unlock purer genes.

Once you’ve completed the demo’s main story, and have the full version of the game in your 3DS, reload the demo and enter the Pokémon Center, then chat to Professor Kukui on the right. Select the ‘Send to full version’, then select the unlocked item to send it to the full game.

Collecting your Greninja and items works in much the same way as Mystery Gift collection from previous games – there’ll be a delivery person standing just to the left of the Pokémon Center counter, in Sun and Moon this’ll be a man dressed in an orange t-shirt. Talk to him, and he’ll hand you your stuff.

There’s a small but important caveat though. if the 3DS has both a card-based and download version of the game, the card-based version will be prioritised out of the two.
