Google is tracking your online purchases by scanning your email for digital receipts. Here is how to find out what Google knows about your shopping behavior.

It does it by scanning your Gmail messages for digital retail receipts for services, and physical and digital items. Google says the feature is to allow its users to keep track of their purchases in one place.

Here is how to find out what Google knows about your online purchases and delete it. To see what Google knows about your purchases, head to and log into your account if you aren’t already.

Anything you have bought online and the receipt is sent to your Gmail account, should be listed. When I checked mine, I found it has tracked items as far back as 2013.

But if you use Gmail as your main email service, you’ll undoubtedly find a lot more.

To do it, click on the item, and on the following page click the “Remove Purchase” button and then the “View Email” button.

That removes it from your “Purchases” list. But if you really want that receipt gone, you need to go into the “Trash” section and delete it forever.

Keep in mind that you will need to do that for each individual item on your purchased list. But remember, while you can delete the purchase history (or any other data) that Google keeps, there’s a copy of it stored on its servers somewhere.

There is currently no way to turn this tracking behavior off. But there are a few ways to avoid having Google get a record of your purchase history in the first place.

For example, we found out Yahoo scans your email and sells your data. But you might consider a privacy-focused email service like Proton Mail or Fast Mail.

Also, depending on the retailer, you can opt to print out your receipt as a PDF and not have it to your email address. Google knows a lot about us and our behavior.

For example, you can now make Google automatically delete your location and web activity data. And in your My Account Dashboard there are ways to delete what the search giant collects.

This can include items picked up at garage sales, one of a kind collectibles, etc. These single purchase items only need to keep track of a single purchase at a single price.

This would include items that are acquired from a supplier or that are made in house. These multiple purchase items need to have detailed purchase history information so profit and loss reports will know how many of each item at each price were purchased.

Fortunately, SixBit is designed to allow for easy, quick entry of quantities, costs and suppliers for single purchase items, while still providing the ability to record detailed purchase records for multiple purchase items. For single purchase items, the quantity, cost and supplier will be recorded directly on the Items window.

When the supplier, cost, invoice number, and PO number are not going to change, changes to the inventory quantity can be made directly on the Item window using the or icons. When multiple purchases will be made with different costs, suppliers, invoice numbers or PO numbers, separate purchase records should be recorded.

When a sale occurs, it will reference the inventory purchases for an item and it will assign the oldest remaining inventory to the sale. By associating sales with particular purchases, you will know exactly how much you paid for an item that was sold even though the items may have been purchased multiple times at multiple prices.

Information for the first purchase of an item can always be made on the Item window. Once a second purchase with different costs, supplier, invoice number or PO number is made, additional purchase records can be made by clicking the icon which will open the Purchase History window.

Let’s take a look at the purchase history for a sample item.

Newer inventory purchases appear at the top. You can see from the example, that the seller acquired a vendor sample of 1 item on 7/19/2017, then purchased another 12 on 8/24/2017 for $51.37 each.

The tinted background indicates that all items from that purchase have sold.

This includes items that have not been listed and items that are listed but not yet sold.

Below the grid, you will see that the total value of the inventory being carried is $565.07 which is the value of inventory that still has not been sold (11 * $51.37). The shrink percentage is the percentage of the total value that has been lost, broken, or stolen.

$234.00 / ((12 * $234.00) + (20 * $239.00) + (10 * $229.00)).

When you only have a single purchase of an item, or when all purchases have the same cost, supplier, invoice number and PO number, the inventory can be managed directly from the Item window. To add stock to items with only one purchase record:

Double-click the item in the grid for which stock will be added to open it in the Item window.

In addition to editing Suppliers one at a time, suppliers can also be batch edited. This allows for editing supplier info on multiple suppliers at the same time.

If you try to set up an Apple device such as AirPods, an item such as AirTag, or another Find My network accessory and see a message that it’s paired to another Apple ID, the device or item needs to be removed from that Apple ID before you can pair it with a new Apple ID. The previous owner might have to follow the steps to unpair.

These steps also unpair the device or item from an Apple ID. When you unpair the device or item from the Apple ID, you also remove Find My Lock, which is the association of the device or item with an Apple ID.

If the device or item is paired with the Apple ID of the previous owner, the previous owner needs to follow these steps to remove the device or item from their Apple ID. The device or item doesn’t have to be connected via Bluetooth to the iPhone or other Apple device that is used to remove it from an Apple ID — but the process might happen more quickly if it’s Bluetooth-connected and within Bluetooth range.

They can be performed from any iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or Mac that’s signed in with the same Apple ID. Apple can’t remove Find My Lock for you.

Tap the item or device you want to remove, then swipe up on the handle. Tap Remove Item or Remove This Device, then tap Remove to confirm.

Select the Devices tab. Select the device that you want to remove.

Click Remove This Device. AirTag and Find My network accessories can be removed from an Apple ID only on iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

When you reset your device or item, it won’t provide its location information to the previous owner. However, you still won’t be able to pair the device or item with a different Apple ID.

We have covered third-party utilities that will help you find your Windows product key. And here we’ll show you some more ways to do it.

That said, there are times when product activation might not work according to plan. Whether you want to perform a new install or transfer your Windows 10 license to a new computer, your product key is an important asset you need to have.

If you want to find your Windows 10 product key, here’s how you find it. First, let’s start with a purchased Windows product key or license, as it is officially known.

Microsoft and Amazon.com are the only authorized online merchants from which you can purchase a digital copy of Windows 10. Any other retailer selling you just a product key is likely not genuine.

Another tip: if you buy a license from Amazon, use this link. Some have tried to save a few bucks by purchasing a license from the Amazon marketplace, only to find that the license is an MSDN key and invalid.

Microsoft will also send you a copy of the product key in a confirmation email. Check your junk mail folder if you don’t see the confirmation email.

Click the Digital Content tab to see your previous purchases along with your product key.

The product key for new computers that come preinstalled with Windows 10 has the product key stored within the motherboard firmware. Users can find a Windows 10 product key by issuing a command from the command prompt.

When you purchase a Windows 10 Pro Pack using the Easy Upgrade option in Windows 10 Home, you don’t receive a product key. Instead, the digital license is attached to your Microsoft Account, which is used to make the purchase.

If you want to transfer a Windows 10 Pro Pack key to a new PC, you’ll need to do this via your Settings menu.

Inside the Windows 10 product box, you will find your product key on a small business card at the back. Users should make sure they store the product key in a safe place or have a backup copy.

The Windows 10 product key is normally found outside the package on the Certificate of Authenticity. If you purchased your PC from a white box vendor, the sticker might be attached to the machine’s chassis, so look at the top or side of the device to find it.

After several years, I’ve found these keys like to rub off with normal wear and tear.

Instead, Domain Administrators set up special KMS (Key Management Service) servers that manage activation across the business network. This eliminates the need for computers to connect to Microsoft for activation.

To access your volume license key for Windows 10, click the Licenses tab in the VLSC portal, then click the Key tab for your Windows product.

A purchase confirmation email should also contain a copy of your product key. Some universities might also use volume licensing.

Instead, when you join the campus network or VPN, KMS will activate your system automatically. This also means that you will lose access to the license when you graduate or end your enrollment.

Subscribers to the Microsoft Software Developer Network (MSDN) can find their product keys by logging into their subscription page. From there, choose the product you would like to view by clicking the Product Keys button.

Microsoft doesn’t provide much sympathy for customers who lose their product keys. In some cases, you might be able to recover your product key using a key finder utility.

That is why you should always make a backup copy and don’t throw away the box. Users who took advantage of the free upgrade offer don’t have a unique Windows 10 key.

Users who need to transfer their Windows 10 free upgrade to another computer are entitled to a one-time transfer right. We have previously covered third-party utilities for finding your product key.

Sometimes, you might have trouble reactivating the software after transferring a license or reinstalling Windows 10. Windows 10 includes a handy chat option to contact a Microsoft support agent who can help get the software reactivated.

Vampy. If you’ve had Windows 10 installed for more than 30 days Microsoft won’t let you revert back.

Then Windows Update didn’t work so I had to manually download over 10 Microsoft files (some were huge) to get it to work. It was very frustrating and time consuming.

Thanks for the link – explains everything nicely. Just for interest sake, on the troublesome computer, I updated my drivers using an older version of Iobit Driver Booster (version 3.5) and bit the bullet and downloaded/installed 17 outdated drivers, which Windows Device Manager did not pick up.

Buying gifts for friends and family is always fun, especially when it’s a surprise. Using the Wish List feature, Amazon allows you to purchase items and ship them to your friend’s house without them knowing.

If you want to, you can disable this option and keep your gifts a secret until they finally arrive at your friend’s doorstep. If you are wondering how Amazon’s Wish Lists work and whether the person is notified when something is purchased from their wish list, read below.

Wish lists are similar to gift registries. Anyone with an Amazon account can create a Wish List and add items to it.

When someone purchases something from your wish list, that item gets shipped to your address (the wish list’s creator). We’ll go into more detail about this below, but essentially, a person will only receive notifications if they’ve set them to send an alert when something on their list is purchased.

But, Amazon will not know that it should remove that item from the list, and therefore someone else may make the exact same purchase. When you create your Amazon account, you have to enter your address and other details.

When purchasing items as gifts, Amazon allows you to enter different shipping addresses and names of the recipients. You can also add a note with your best wishes and choose a wrapping, so the item gets sent packaged as a gift.

Amazon needs a few days to send out the items you’ve bought as gifts. That leaves you with some time to change your note.

Typically, the person receiving the gift will get a notification when you enter their name and address in the recipient field which might be a problem if you want to keep the gift a secret and have that surprise factor. By selecting Don’t spoil my surprises in the Settings menu, your purchases will stay a secret until it gets delivered to the recipient.

If you try to repurchase them, Amazon will warn you about duplicate items. Amazon warns that you have to remain logged into your account if you want this filter to stay on.

Since you can send out gifts from Amazon with personalized messages, you can also make them a surprise. You can choose to hide the price on the packing slip.

Only the name of the recipient and the address will stay on the outside of the package. However, you can’t get some items wrapped as a gift because of their size, shape, or weight.

Amazon will inform you about this before you make the purchase.

Moreover, Amazon will tell you if the person you wish to send the gift has already bought the item through their account. That way, you won’t buy something they already have, which is a nice touch.

This is actually much more difficult to pull off because of the account notification settings. Let’s say you’re ordering a gift and you’d like to keep it from your significant other, your best bet is to set up an Amazon Household account where you would receive all of the notifications yet still use the same Prime account.

The Amazon online store has something for everyone. You will surely find something to surprise your friends or family members with.

The items you bought will arrive at the location of your choice, gift-wrapped, and you can even add a personalized note for the full effect. And if the receiver doesn’t like the gifts, they can return them to Amazon at once.

To make an anonymous purchase, you can make a different account and send an item from the receiver’s Amazon wish list as a gift. The recipient won’t know that you sent the gift.

In order for you to know who has given you a gift on Amazon, you can check the details on the packing slip. The packing slip, which is often placed inside the package, will provide the sender’s name and address if they filled one out.

If you want to hide something you bought on Amazon, you can archive orders to stop them from appearing in the order history. To archive an order: Go to Your Orders > select the order you want to archive > tap Archive order.

If an order is from a wish list or gift, you can cancel it on your account if it’s your wish list. Otherwise, you need to have access to the recipient’s account to do so.

You won’t be able to change to a different Apple ID for 90 days. The responses cleared the issue better but I cannot believe that there is not a mechanism by which Apple can override this requirement in a case where it is clearly not possible to deauthorise an unknown device.
