I don’t mind paying this because not only do I get to watch Harry Potter on Netflix, I also get a secure connection both at home and while I’m on public WiFi networks.

In this case, let’s say that you decide to find a server in Germany. In the screenshot below, you’ll see that I found the Frankfurt server on ExpressVPN and connected to it.

All you have to do is click on one of them to connect, and you’re golden. After you’ve logged in to Netflix with the VPN connected, you won’t see any special notification or indication that you’re connected in a different country.

Though the books were written for children and young adults, most people find that they can connect to the tale of young Harry Potter and his friends rising up to defeat the evil Voldemort.

Of course, if you’re looking to stream the films online, they’re a bit harder to find. Entering the Potterverse isn’t as easy as loading up Netflix, since the films aren’t available on the world’s most popular streaming service.

Let’s start by discussing the real reason you’re here: where is Harry Potter streaming in 2021 in the United States. Well, we’ve got some surprisingly good news for you.

Unfortunately, the company has moved all but the first film behind a paywall, so you’ll need a paid account to watch Harry Potter through Peacock. The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s/Sorcerer’s Stone can be streamed with ads.

Well, way back in 2016, Warner Bros. and NBC Universal inked a deal that would make NBC-owned properties the sole destination for the films beginning in 2018.

In fact, that deal also prevents Harry Potter from making their way to Warner Bros.’ own streaming service, HBO Max. While the film made an unexpected appearance at launch, none of the films are streaming on HBO Max anymore—and they likely won’t for a while.

won’t get those rights back for another half decade. We’re getting major flashbacks to Disney’s attempts to launch a streaming service while waiting for their Netflix deal to run out the clock, but you never know what could change down the road.

Around the world, you may be able to find them on various other services. While streaming the franchise might be difficult, if you have a few bucks for each film, renting or buying each of the films is actually pretty easy.

The Play Store has all of the Harry Potter movies available to stream to Android devices. They are available in the US and UK and presumably elsewhere too.

As of July 2019, the films can be rented for $3.99 and purchased for $14.99 in 4k resolution. You can also buy all eight of the original franchise for $69.99 plus tax, also in 4k resolution.

Whether you’re buying on your iPhone, Apple TV, or your Mac, you’ll find the movies waiting for you in Apple’s Movies app.

Amazon rents the Harry Potter movies for $3.99 (in HD but not 4K) and sells them for $9.99, a savings of a few dollars off of Google’s offering. Fantastic Beasts is available for $3.99 to rent and $9.99 to buy, while the second FB movie is only available for purchase, at $19.99.

Even without a subscription to YouTube TV, you can rent the Harry Potter movies (and many others) on YouTube for $3.99 apiece or purchase them for $14.99 apiece in Ultra HD. The rental and purchase agreement go through Google Pay but YouTube provides the streaming.

These are such strong alternatives to cable that they deserve their own mention. Each of these has both of the main channels where you can see Harry Potter included in one of their subscription packages.

None are cheap in their own right but all of them are cheaper than cable. As they all contain either SyFy and/or USA Network, the primary rights holders for the Potter universe, you should be able to get your Harry Potter on whenever you like.

The first eight are set at or in connection with Hogwarts, and deal with the ongoing conflict between Harry Potter and his friends and the evil Voldemort. Each of the first eight movies covers approximately one year at Hogwarts.

Subsequent to the end of the Potter saga, two more movies have come out in the Fantastic Beasts series. Set in the years before Harry Potter, those movies are:

Although there are many folks out there who think the books were better than their film adaptations, the Harry Potter movies have become an essential part of the franchise. The film universe has even extended beyond the original series with 3 addtional Fantastic Beast prequels that introduced us to a new part of the wizarding world.

Although there were only 7 books in the original series, there are a total of 11 movies in the Harry Potter franchise. This includes 8 films based on the books (2 parts for the Deathly Hallows) and 3 Fantastic Beasts prequels.

Considering it takes place around 70 years before Harry starts school at Hogwarts, it is the first film you’ll want to watch if you’re going by chronological order. The first Fantastic Beasts film focuses on Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne) as he navigates his way through New York and the magical underpinnings of the United States.

Where to Watch: Max to stream, Apple TV+ and Amazon Prime Video to rent. Just a few months after the end of the first prequel, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald takes us back to England and features even more tie-ins to the original Harry Potter Movies.

Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore is the first film in the Fantastic Beasts series that sees a true time jump. Set 5 years after the events of The Crimes of Grindelwald, the third film in the Fantastic Beasts series largely focuses on Grindelwald himself once again — who is actually played by Mads Mikkelsen this time.

And while the majority of the film takes place in 1991, the true start of the film is technically 1980 — the year when Harry was born and Hagrid drops him of at the Dursley residence. Since this is the first Harry Potter movie released, it gives us our first look at Harry (Daniel Radcliffe), Hermione Granger (Emma Watson), and Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) as well as our initial forray into wizarding world through a Muggle lens.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban is the third film in the original series and coincides with Harry’s third year of classes at Hogwarts — taking place in 1993. This is the first film where we start to truly see the darker side of the wizarding world as we get introduced to the likes of Sirius Black (Gary Oldman) and Peter Pettigrew (Timothy Spall).

Taking place in 1994, The Goblet of Fire breathes new life into Hogwarts with the addition of the Triwizard Tournament and the Yule Ball. We get introduced to new important characters like Mad Eye Moody (Brendand Gleeson) and Cedric Diggory (Robert Pattinson).

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is the fifth film in the original series and takes place in 1995. Harry starts his fifth year of Hogwarts with a newfound family of sorts and we get our first look at some of the other members of The Order of the Phoenix like the shapeshifting Nymphadora Tonks (Natalia Tena).

There is also a new Defense Against the Dark Arts professor with a penchant for cruelty that everyone gets to hate, Delores Umbridge (Imelda Staunton). Read our review of The Order of the Phoenix.

Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince is the sixth film to be released and takes place in 1996. As Harry enters his sixth year at Hogwarts school for witchcraft and wizardry, he is starting to truly grow up after being faced with even more death.

We also get to see Voldemort and the Deatheaters fully on the loose as Dumbledore reveals more secrets about the prophecy Harry is a part of. Although this film starts to get pretty dark, it’s also where we see more of Ginny Weasley (Bonnie Wright) and expand her relationship with Harry.

Set in 1998, this film is a continuation of part 1 starting right where the previous film left off. As Harry and his friends reveal more information about the prophecy Harry is part of, they eventually make their way back to Hogwarts for a final showdown against Voldemort and the Deatheaters.
