Jujutsu Kaisen 0 cast and staff [1]

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was one of the most successful anime movies that was released in 2021. Being a prequel to the first season, it was an important movie, as it did a pretty good job of providing context for certain characters, like Yuta Okkotsu.

There was a lot of mystery surrounding Yuta because Gojo admitted that he had the potential to become a stronger jujutsu sorcerer compared to him. This intrigued a lot of people, and the ending was perfect since there were a few elements that not only tied the movie to the current timeline in the anime, but also teased the fans with a little information about the second season as well.

Let’s take a look at the streaming platform, along with the cast and staff responsible for the production of this film. On September 21, 2022, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was included in the Crunchyroll catalog.

In addition to this, Crunchyroll also gained the additional rights to stream movies like Your Name. So far platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime haven’t announced anything yet, but fans can expect Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on these platforms as well in a few months.

However, misfortune occurs to those that taunt him and cause problems, as he has access to a curse spirit. Yuta’s curse can be traced back to his tragic childhood, as he witnessed the death of his dear friend, Rika Orimoto.

This is a unique situation that Gojo Satoru is informed of. He meets Yuta and understands his problem, offering a solution- to utilize his powers and use it for good deeds.

He struggles to mingle with his classmates, but they eventually accept him. During his missions, he is unable to utilize Rika’s powers, but a few violent outbursts grabs Geto Suguru’s attention.

Ghetto Suguru hatches a plot to gain Rika, a source of massive curse energy, which would help him carry out his genocidal plan of kiling all non-jujutsu users. Only Yuta and his classmates can put an end to Geto Suguru’s plans.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 trailer [2]

“Jujutsu Kaisen 0” is set one year before Yuji Itadori first becomes entangled in the world of sorcerers and Curses. Yuta Okkotsu takes the lead instead, a nervous high school student still suffering from the loss of his childhood friend, Rika Orimoto, who he promised to one day marry.

Fans of the series anime can probably guess where Yuji turns for help: he finds his way to the Tokyo Jujutsu High, a school for sorcerers. In addition to Yuta, fans can expect to see familiar faces like Maki Zenin and Satoru Gojo make an appearance.

Most platforms can air Jujutsu Kaisen in select countries [8]

Gege Akutami’s Jujutsu Kaisen managed to become highly popular after its premiere in the Fall 2020 anime season. Its popularity led its studio, MAPPA, to release a movie on its prequel manga volume, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, which was released on December 24, 2021.

With the increased hype surrounding JJK, MAPPA finally announced JJK season 2, which is set to release in 2023. It has been a long time since fans watched season 1, so it would be great if they could re-watch their favorite anime before its second season comes out.

Jujutsu Kaisen is currently streaming on Crunchyroll, HBO Max, Funimation, Netflix, and Disney Plus. However, these platforms do not have streaming rights for the anime in every country, as licensing varies from platform to platform and country to country.

The anime should be available in subbed and dubbed versions in these countries. On HBO Max, the anime is available to watch globally in whichever country the streaming platform is available.

Similar to the first season, JJK season 2 will also stretch across two anime seasons, possibly the Fall 2023 anime season and the Winter 2024 anime season. Quick Links.

7 Different Plot, Same Breathtaking Animation [9]

Following the conclusion of the first season of the award-winning series Jujutsu Kaisen, fans around the world proclaimed their love for the anime and were itching for more. On the March 26th, 2021, the popular and highly successful Studio MAPPA announced the forthcoming release of the film Jujutsu Kaisen 0: The Movie.

Just after season one of the televised series reached a finale, MAPPA released a 30-second trailer of the movie, revealing that the plot would follow the story detailed in the manga miniseries Jujutsu Kaisen 0. For the fans who just can’t wait to see the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, their hunger for more of the insanely talented and skilled jujutsu sorcerers will be satisfied with the release of the movie on December 24, 2021.

The side characters’ pasts and the events that lead up to the plot of the anime series are all revealed in the upcoming movie. It includes the initial rough character designs by Gege Akutami and highlights the dynamics between the characters.

Unlike other anime films, the protagonist of the series and the protagonist of the movie are two different characters. Everyone’s favorite boy in anime, Yuji Itadori, will not be the main character in the movie like he is in the anime.

It will focus on uncovering Yuta’s past and how he found himself thrust into the world of jujutsu sorcerers and cursed spirits. With an extremely powerful and uncontrollable cursed spirit attached to him, Yuta finds himself caught in the middle of the catastrophes caused by his curse.

Although the movie is centered around a plotline that predates the series, the studio responsible for the animation remains the same. Studio MAPPA is a highly successful animation studio that has released some of the most popular anime titles, including Terror In Resonance, Kakegurui, Banana Fish, and Jujutsu Kaisen, which was praised for its particularly captivating animation.

There are many reasons, including the compelling plot and the entertaining battles, that make Jujutsu Kaisen so amazing, but the unique characters make the anime stand out. While Yuji seems to be everyone’s favorite, the supporting characters are just as, if not even more, lovable.

Toge, wielder of the Cursed Speech technique. and Panda, a panda bear capable of human speech and combat, make up a fascinating team of jujutsu sorcerers in training.

Fan are all too familiar with the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna, the malevolent and powerful cursed spirit that resides in Yuji Itadori’s body, but as the saying goes, for every king there is a queen. In the upcoming film, fans are introduced to Rika Orimoto, the undisputed Queen of Curses.

Not long after her death, Rika was cursed, causing her to turn into a vengeful special grade cursed spirit. Like any prequel, this movie sets the stage for the events that take place later on in the main series.

Once the anime series premiered, the design of the characters from the manga had been finalized and polished. With the release of the new movie, the original character designs will be showcased for all viewers to see.

The plot of the movie works to show the history of the series while remaining relevant to the Jujutsu Kaisen timeline. Originally titled Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School, the manga, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, was a four-chapter miniseries serialized from April to July 2017.

Once the finale of the anime series premiered, Studio MAPPA announced the production of a film adaptation of the renamed manga. It was advertised as a prequel, and the official key visual of Yuta and Rika was released in June 2021.

The name and details of the tragic event are inspired by a Japanese folklore tale. As a way to highlight the movie producers’ and writers’ attention to detail, the released date of the film was set to coincide with the day of Geto’s attack.

When and Where Is Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Coming Out? [10]

One of the most successful recent anime shows, Mappa’s Jujutsu Kaisen took the world by surprise when it hit the screens back in 2020. Fans were delighted to see a unique amalgamation of Naruto and Hunter x Hunter, two of the most popular animes of all time, both of which served as an inspiration for the original manga, written by Gege Akutami.

Beginning as a Mangaka short series known as Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School, which was later collected and retroactively renamed Jujutsu Kaisen 0, the anime series is based on the sequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0: Jujutsu High, which follows the life of Yuji Itadori.

However, when even their combined efforts seem insufficient, Yuji swallows the finger, which serves as a death sentence for him, as it belonged to a powerful Curse named Ryomen Sukuna. Jujutsu sorcerer Gojo Satoro steps in and takes Yuji under his wing to teach him how to use the curse effectively, with the added objective of finding the remaining pieces of Sukuna, so they can exorcise Sukuna once and for all.

To find out more about this fascinating world, and to see Yuji and his friends in action, here’s exactly how you can watch all episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen released so far. Editor’s Note: This article was updated on July 1, 2023.

There are multiple ways to watch the first season of Jujutsu Kaisen in the US. All the episodes of Season 1 are already available to stream on Crunchyroll.

Watch on Crunchyroll. You can also watch the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on Crunchyroll.

The film is an excellent addition to the mythos and arguably just as good as the series. Watch on Crunchyroll.

The series will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll, with the English dub becoming available a few weeks later. Season 2 brings with it some changes behind the scenes, with Shōta Goshozono replacing Sunghoo Park as the director.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will focus on the “Kaigyoku/Gyokusetsu” and “Shibuya Incident” arcs from the manga and will be released in two halves, or cours. We will be seeing characters from both Season 1 and the prequel movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and hence will hear a number of familiar voices.

While the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen will move ahead with the tale of Yuji Itadori and his friends, the series will also take a look back at the history of Satoru Gojo, voiced by Yûichi Nakamura/Kaiji Tang, and his lost friendship with now-nemesis Suguru Geto (Takahiro Sakurai/Lex Lang). The Jujutsu Kaisen trailer begins with a look at a rotting finger, which belongs to the powerful Curse known as Sukuna.

We get a quick glimpse at Yuji, who is more brawn than brains, jumping headfirst into battle, as well as sneak peeks at his future classmates in Jujutsu High, Megumi, and Nobara. The trailer ends with an overconfident Gojo claiming that he is the strongest there is, and the frightened expressions of the elder sorcerers put some major weight onto his statement.

The Season 2 trailer goes even further back in time than the movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, all the way back to when Satoru Gojo was a student at Jujutsu High. Here we get to see glimpses of his friendship with Suguru Geto before he turned evil.

We also see the bold assassin Toji Fushiguro trying to assassinate Riko Amanai, Gojo’s classmate. Toji also happens to be the father of Yuji’s classmate, Megumi, and it will be interesting to see how this dynamic plays out in the series.

Black Clover is set in the Clover Kingdom, where everyone is born with innate magical abilities. Orphans Asta and Yuno, best friends for as long as they can remember, both dream of becoming the Wizard King.

This does not deter him, however, as it is soon found out he has one trick up his sleeve that is going to make him a deadly opponent against every sorcerer in his world. Watch on Crunchyroll.

Burdened by the popularity of his famous father and Hokage, Boruto seeks to find his own place in the world. Even though he didn’t inherit his father’s abilities, he gradually learns to hone his techniques, and through trial and error, becomes an astonishing ninja on his own, along with the help of his friends, all the while containing a great evil inside.

The first anime that comes to mind whenever you watch Jujutsu Kaisen, Naruto is one of the biggest influences on the more recent series, featuring a training academy setting, an eccentric and powerful teacher who keeps half his face hidden, a trio of friends striving to be the best ninja/sorcerer, and a naive protagonist with a pure heart and lots of reserve chakra/physical prowess.

Watch on Crunchyroll.

Spiritual Elements [11]

Jujutsu Kaisen 0’s plot relies on the existence of monstrous sentient curses borne out of compilations of negative human emotions called “cursed energy.” Because they’re made up of cursed energy, their actions and thoughts are entirely based around whatever negative emotions conceived them. These curses are invisible to the majority of humanity (except in life-or-death situations), but they can still harm people regardless of their awareness.

Many of these sorcerers use their mystical abilities to exorcise curses and protect people who cannot see them, but some use them for their own gain. A woman calls antagonist sorcerer Suguru “godly.” Suguru says that humanity imagined the existence of higher powers.

A battle is called the “Night Parade of a Hundred Demons.”. [Spoiler Warning] Rika’s curse is broken, and she fades away into the afterlife in a display of glowing yellow bubbles.

Both The Dub And The Sub Rock [12]

This might not be that big of a surprise anymore, but I’m a pretty big fan of anime. While I’m relatively new to the genre (I wasn’t watching it from childhood like some people), I’ve been consistently viewing it for the last ten years – maybe even beyond if you count all the Pokemon shows.

But while I could go on for hours about it and how it’s one of the perfect shows to start you off on an anime path if you want some fantasy, today we’re going to talk about it’s prequel, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, a film that was released in the United States in early 2022 and is just now appearing on Crunchyroll for everyone to see.

And, let me say, this film is one of the best anime prequels I have seen in a long time. To be honest, I feel like it’s one of the best anime films based on a show, as well, but those are for other reasons we can’t talk about here.

Something I really like about Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is that it dives deep into the characters that we already know from the series. While it doesn’t do a lot of deep diving with many of the other characters, it focuses on a couple and really gives them a more effective backstory and adds personality that we haven’t experienced before.

Like, for example – when watching the show, I have to admit, I was not the biggest fan of Gojo.

The only saving grace he had was that it seemed he cared for Yuji Itadori, but at the same time, even some of those moments didn’t feel super likeable.

When helping Yuta try to harness the power of Rika into the katana and to find a way to free her of her curse, you can see that he really does care about the kid and wants her to succeed, which is something I feel like we don’t get to see a lot of in the show, besides him being a badass. It’s a nice change of pace.

While these aren’t really “side characters” in the original series because they certainly steal the show in more ways than one, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 really gave them a chance to shine and more. A big side character that got a lot of attention in this film was Maki, who was given the shot to really show off her ability not only as a sorcerer but a fighter as well, and preview her friendship with Yuta that we don’t get to hear a lot about in the show.

We also get a whole lot more from Toge, someone who can’t even speak normally, and yet his personality shines so much more. While Maki was already one of my favorite characters, this movie made me love her even more, and the same with Toge.

When I say “introduced,” I more or less mean that it feels we are given so much more story on these characters than before, as if we are properly introduced to them instead of having a few flashbacks and appearances in the anime before. For example, Yuta is barely seen in the first half of Season 1 of the series, and seen a couple of times in the second half, but other than that, we know nothing about him.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was a great way to show off his character and give us his backstory that we have been aching to learn – and now, I can’t wait to learn more about him in the show, exactly what a prequel should do an excellent job of setting up. Another character I seriously enjoyed being better introduced to is Suguro Geto, the main antagonist.

He was such an interesting counterpart to Gojo and so ridiculously powerful and I absolutely loved the contrast between him and the rest of the Jujutsu sorcerers. His ending was interesting and set up so many plotlines for the rest of the series, and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

There has been this ongoing debate for so long over what is better, dubbed anime (as in voiced by English voice actors) or subbed (voiced by Japanese voice actors, but subtitled for non-Japanese speakers). I have always personally preferred dubbed just so I can fully focus on the animation and all the cool stuff happening, but I understand why some prefer subbed as well.

However, I watched both in subbed and dubbed, and wow, everything was just done so perfectly. I felt the emotion in both versions, and they were both able to express the feelings of all the characters in the best way possible.

It told a great story both ways and I’m super, duper impressed. It almost reminded me of Howl’s Moving Castle because the sub and dub for that film was outstanding as well.

Last but not least, I need to give credit where credit is due, and say wow the animation was freaking amazing in this movie.

I saw Attack on Titan Season 4, I’ve seen the entire Jujutsu Kaisen anime and can’t wait until Season 2 – I know what they are capable of, but this film felt like it was on another level for animation.

For example, I saw Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train in theaters and while it was great, it sort of just felt like the show was taken from TV sets and put into the theaters. The animation didn’t feel starkly different from the series.

While I’m not looking for animation to be different from the show, I’m looking for it to be enhanced to a cinematic level, and that’s exactly what Jujutsu Kaisen 0 did. It felt as if I was back in the theaters watching it for the first time on the big screen and seeing all the intensity all over again, because the animation was beautifully done and created some visually stunning sequences that I didn’t normally get in the TV show.

When it comes to anime prequels, you really can’t get any better than Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Fans of the show have to see this prequel.

Until Season 2 comes out, I’ll just keep rewatching Season 1 and this movie over and over again on Crunchyroll.

Where can you stream Jujutsu Kaisen 0? [13]

Fans have been waiting for Jujutsu Kaisen 0 to get a streaming release date for a long time and to get info about which service will carry it. Fortunately, we finally know where you can stream the most popular anime film of the year and when it’ll be available.

The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 streaming release date is September 21, 2022. While the exact timing hasn’t been confirmed, fans can likely expect it to drop at around midnight Pacific Daylight Time.

Since this is such an eagerly anticipated movie, it’s possible that it might be singled out for a release promo at a specific time. If that’s the case, it may not drop during the typical launch window.

You’ll be able to stream Jujutsu Kaisen 0 on Crunchyroll once it becomes available. This was pretty predictable since the movie got its theatrical release from Crunchyroll in association with Funimation.

The DVD and Blu-ray are scheduled to release on September 21, 2022, as well, but only in Japan. As of writing, no physical release of the film is scheduled elsewhere.

The Japanese version comes with both Japanese and English subtitles. So, you can import and enjoy it, even if you don’t know Japanese.

However, Crunchyroll might block a physical release for the same reason. After all, if you can’t go out and buy it at the store, you’ll have to pay for a subscription for at least a month.

Originally intended as an arc of the television series, MAPPA changed its format during discussion.

King Gnu performed the two theme songs. Given the large budget for the movie, MAPPA aimed to make more appealing fight sequences than the ones from the TV series.

Megumi Ogata as Yuta Okkotsu [17]

Today we got to see our first full trailer for the upcoming anime movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0. This movie, based on the manga volume of the same name, serves as a prequel to the hit series Jujutsu Kaisen.

The movie version of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is something I’ve been excited about since it was first announced. Now that we got a trailer I can’t think of a better way to spend Christmas Eve (if I lived in Japan, at least, but I’m assuming like most popular anime movies it’ll be released here eventually).

Note: if you want a more in-depth review of the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 manga chapter, you can head over here, but it’s full of spoilers. Yuta is mentioned in the first season of the anime series and is someone who is held in high regard by anyone who knows him.

This movie is his back story, but it doesn’t take long to see that he didn’t start out as some high-level master of jujutsu. Kinda like Yuji Itadori (the series protagonist).

This gains the attention of Gojo (no surprise there) who brings him to the same school that he ends up bringing Yuji to at the beginning of the series. Yuta begins training at Jujutsu High, but as you can see from the trailer (or if you’re familiar with the series, or anime in general) learning how to use your newfound abilities (or curse, in this case) isn’t easy.

Yuta goes through quite the emotional journey, and I’m beyond thrilled that the woman who took on such characters as Haruka (Sailor Moon), Shinji (Neon Genesis Evangelion), and Kurama (Yu Yu Hakusho) is taking this on. The Jujutsu Kaisen anime series already makes it easy to love Maki, Toge, and Panda, and the prequel will make you love them even more.

We get to see them go all out against a major threat: Geto. Jujutsu Kaisen has given us some interesting villains to love/hate (*cough* *cough* MAHITO YOU LITTLE BITC- *cough* *cough*), but it’s also given us antagonists who feel like they’re on standby, playing an ongoing game of chess until they finally decide to pull a Thanos and “do it themselves.”.

Even if we’re watching Mahito do some serious damage, it’s Geto who is putting everything into motion. However, he hasn’t actually fought in the anime yet, but he is definitely gonna throw hands in the movie.

Knowing that he’s the one who got Yuta into Jujutsu High is pretty hilarious since he’s also the one who brought Yuji into this. He just can’t help himself, can he.

The trailer gives us glimpses of Gojo in battle, doing his “I’m extremely OP” thing, and not to spoil much of the story, but this prequel has some pretty significant Gojo moments in it. I don’t have anything else to add.

Are you excited to see Yuta on the big screen. More importantly, how long do you think it’ll be before this movie comes to the U.S.

On January 15, the official website for AMC Theaters listed a Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie in their upcoming movies section, along with a March 18 release date, and then promptly removed it a few hours later. Naturally, fans at the time assumed that this was no coincidence, even though an official announcement hadn’t been made.

However, it seems like the rumors were true after all. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 releases in theatres in the United States and Canada on March 18.

In addition to screenings in over 1500 theaters nationwide, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will be released in select IMAX theaters in the U.S. The film has been directed by Sunghoo Park and produced under MAPPA, with Crunchyroll serving as the official distributor in association with Funimation.

What Is Jujutsu Kaisen? [19]

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the first film set in the world of Jujutsu Kaisen. If you are new to the series, Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga series that stars Yuji Itadori, as he learns how to become a jujutsu sorcerer.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is not following our main cast, and instead will follow a new character named Yuta Okkotsu and is a prequel to the main series. We know things can get a little confusing so here is everything we know about Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will hit theaters in North America on March 18, 2022, in both Japanese sub and English dubs. Select theaters will have showings in IMAX but we don’t have a list of what theaters will be doing so.

Unfortunately, we do not know what the release date will be for the rest of the world. With Jujutsu Kaisen 0 hitting U.S.

Jujutsu Kaisen is a manga by author, Gege Akutami. The series has been a part of Weekly Shonen Jump since March 2018.

Itadori joins a secret organization of sorcerers and strives to become a Jujutsu sorcerer, making it his duty to defeat all evil curses. Itadori is trained by his master, Satoru Gojo, and works alongside Megumi Fushiguro, and Nobara Kugisaki.

The hit manga received an anime adaptation that premiered on October 3, 2020, from the esteemed MAAPA studios. The manga is actually a sequel to Akutami’s 2017 manga, Tokyo Metropolitan Curse Technical School.

That’s where we start the upcoming movie, Jujutsu Kaisen 0. Related:’Jujutsu Kaisen 0′ Explained: How the Movie Will Connect to the Anime.

Yuta Okkotsu is a character that is mentioned a few times in the first season of the anime and can even be spotted in the second intro. This film will give him the spotlight and serve as a bit of world-building for the Jujutsu Kaisen mythos.

“Yuta Okkotsu gains control of an extremely powerful, cursed spirit and gets enrolled in the Tokyo Prefectural Jujutsu High School by sorcerers to help him control his power and keep an eye on him.”. The film is manga/anime canon and will feature some of Itadori’s upperclassmen and teachers.

With Jujutsu Kaisen 0 being anime canon, MAPPA is taking a similar approach we saw not too long ago with Demon Slayer: Mugen Train. Using these higher-budget theatrical releases to adapt these canon stories only helps drive interest to the original manga and the anime.

Now, studios are taking their time and fleshing out the world in unique ways. As of now, there is no date for when Jujutsu Kaisen 0 will be coming to streaming.

In the case of Jujutsu Kaisen Movie 0, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens with the streaming rights in the coming months. Related:10 Popular Manga That Deserve An Anime Adaptation.

Check out the gorgeous first look at the film above. The English voice cast has been announced for Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

The original Japanese voice cast can be heard in the subtitled showings of Jujutsu Kaisen 0. The cast consists of Megumi Ogata (Yuta Okkotsu), Kana Hanazawa (Rika Orimoto), Mikako Komatsu (Maki Zen’in), Koki Uchiyama (Toge Inumaki), Tomokazu Seki (Panda), Yuichi Nakamura (Satoru Gojo), and Takahiro Sakurai (Suguru Geto).

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is a prequel to the main anime series and will follow a different cast of characters in a self-contained story. However, keep in mind that a few minor details might be brushed over because they expect you to have seen the show.

” or “Who is Satoru Gojo. ” might not be answered because these things are tackled in the anime’s first season.

Where else can I watch Jujutsu Kaisen online? [20]

Jujutsu Kaisen came out of nowhere to be one of the biggest shows of the last few years, so a second season was inevitable. Finally, the wait is over: new episodes will be released subtitled weekly from July 6, with a dub release schedule to be announced shortly.

Read on to find out how you can stream JJK season two from anywhere in the world. In this post, we’re only recommending official sources for watching Jujutsu Kaisen online.

The good news is that you’ll have none of these issues with the official sources listed further below. Note that Jujutsu Kaisen is only available to stream on region-locked platforms.

You’ll need to connect to a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to watch via your usual streaming service. If you’re in a country where there’s no official JJK broadcaster, you can still tune in using a VPN.

Here’s how to use that to stream Jujutsu Kaisen abroad: NordVPN is offering a fully featured risk-free 30-day trial if you sign up at this page.

There are no hidden terms—just contact support within 30 days if you decide NordVPN isn’t right for you and you’ll get a full refund. Start your NordVPN trial here.

If you’re in the US, you’ll be able to watch Jujutsu Kaisen season two on Crunchyroll from July 6. The company will be dubbing this into eight languages including Spanish, French, and Russian, but there’s no indication as to when this will begin as yet.

Currently, you can stream the entire first season of JJK for free with ads. If you’d like to remove these or watch at higher resolutions, you’ll need a premium account.

Note that you may be able to find Jujutsu Kaisen in your country’s version of Crunchyroll. If not, you can always use a VPN.

NordVPN successfully unblocks Crunchyroll and comes with a 30-day money-back guarantee. This allows you to try it out for yourself risk-free and, if at all unsatisfied, request a full refund.

The great thing about the Chinese online video platform is that you can use it to watch full episodes for free —you don’t even need to sign up for an account in order to do so. However, if you want to do so in 1080p HD and without ads, you’ll need to purchase a paid plan.

Should you try to stream iQIYI content in a country in which it’s not available, you’ll come across an error message such as “This video is not available in your region”. To get around this, you’ll need to connect to a VPN server in a country such as Malaysia, Singapore, or Thailand.

Good news for fans of Satoru Gojo: the second season will let you know a little more about the aloof teacher. Better still, because it’s set in 2006, you don’t need to have seen the movie (or even the first season) to watch it, although we’d recommend doing so anyway.

Don’t worry: he’ll be back with the rest of the team in the second half of the season, where we’ll finally move into the long-await Shibuya Incident arc. Why not take a look at the Jujutsu Kaisen season 2 teaser while you wait for the premiere on July 6.

An extension and gateway into Jujutsu Kaisen [22]

The animation style notably evokes a palpable sense of mood as the animators expertly play with light and shadow throughout the movie, from mounting dread to uplifting the tone through their choice of color palette. Starting out filtered in crimson and largely shrouded in darkness, the cinematography matches Yuta’s fragile mental state at the start of the story, lightening up as he builds confidence and a positive outlook.

This is an anime film that runs just slightly longer than most but it never particularly feels like it outstays its welcome and that comes down to performance and pacing. Both the original Japanese cast and English-language dub cast produced by Crunchyroll do admirable work with the material here.

There is a tragedy to Yuta through his relationship with Rika, serving as the film’s emotional core, and this dramatic potential is explored in full. Yuichi Nakamura and Kaiji Tang bring a cool, confident performance as Gojo, one paralleled by the movie’s main antagonist Suguru Geto (Takahiro Sakurai/Lex Lang), as opposite sides of the same supernatural coin.

This distinction carries over to Gojo leading his students against Geto. the antagonist offers a dark image of what the Jujutsu Sorcerers could become but not much particularly more.

However, given the origin story premise driving the narrative, the filmmakers have wisely constructed a movie that is just as accessible to those unfamiliar with the main “Jujutsu Kaisen” story. Having watched the anime series enriches the experience, for sure, but this can be seen as a standalone story that happens to have a sprawling tale set afterward.

Similar situations, different approaches [23]

Very slight spoilers for Jujutsu Kaisen 0. CW: mention of attempted suicide.

The art is a visual delight, with phenomenal storytelling and voice acting to match, but my absolute favorite thing about the movie is getting more context for characters I’m already fond of.

Seeing the early days of Maki Zenin, Toge Inumaki, and Panda show how much they’ve grown by the time we meet them in the series. We even get to see the villainous Suguru Geto in action, something we technically haven’t seen in the anime itself (yet).

What really hit me with this movie, though, is how it handles grief, how messy it is to process it, and attempting to move forward when you feel it would be best if you stop trying. Yuta and his close friend, Rika Orimoto, made a promise to get married back when they were children.

Somehow, the incident has led to Rika becoming a monstrous curse that will not leave Yuta’s side. She often appears whenever someone bullies Yuta, and at this point, all Yuta wants to do is die.

Despite being in a similar situation as Jujutsu Kaisen’s main protagonist, Yuji Itadori, Yuta handles the whole “scheduled to be executed” thing a whole lot differently. While Yuji was ready to stay alive for the sake of gathering Sukuna’s fingers in an attempt to protect everyone (which will eventually lead to Yuji being killed anyway, lol yikes), Yuta is actually perfectly fine with dying.

Yuji is a character who pretty much goes with the flow of things no matter how much danger it puts him in. He’s very much in it to protect the people he comes to care about—even if, at the end of the day, the ultimate goal is to kill him once his task is done.

He has to work toward reaching a point where he wants to make an effort because he’s had to deal with grief that’s so heavy that it is literally a monster that won’t let him go. What makes it even harder for Yuta is that this is a curse of someone he cared about.

Of course, this isn’t what he had in mind, but I think this is a haunting, gutwrenching take on how far “forever” can go. Because as you watch the movie, you see that Yuta is never cruel to Rika and doesn’t fault her for the turn his life has taken.

I think there are a couple of reasons for this. On top of the grief of losing someone you love, I think Yuta has a bit of survivor’s guilt.

Rika, on the other hand, is left to be this apparition who will forever be a child. So instead of admonishing her for making his life so difficult, he puts it all on himself, keeps his distance from people, and settles on ending his life if he can.

Rika often shows up, unannounced, and doesn’t always listen to Yuta no matter how much he tries to keep her at bay. That’s kinda how grief is if you think about it.

No matter how hard I try to tell myself to grieve on a specific day, my feelings will bubble up over, well, anything.

He’s able to do this when he starts to get closer to the people around him as they give him a reason to care for more things than the girl who died when he was a kid. There’s a moment where Rika starts to go off the rails, but Yuta’s actually able to calm her down by acknowledging her feelings, comforting her, and treating her like something other than a cursed being.

Instead of shying away from it or panicking about it being too destructive for the people around me, I embrace it. Of course, I can’t do what Yuta does and turn it into a superpowered attack against an enemy, but I can at least accept that it’s a part of me.

That, however, goes into heavy spoiler territory, but it’s interesting to see how other characters deal with loss—and loss doesn’t always necessarily mean death, it can also mean cutting ties and going your separate way.

The film beautifully demonstrates how creative anime is when tackling subjects like grief and trying to find something to live for. I’m sure there will be other interpretations of what Yuta’s going through, but for me, I was amazed to see how a character could have something so tragic manifest into something so horrifying, only to come to terms with the literal monster in the closet and gain strength from her.

August 10: Gojo’s Past Arc and Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie Recap [24]

The electrifying anime sensation, Jujutsu Kaisen, continues to captivate audiences with its heart-pounding plot twists and action sequences. As the latest episode bids farewell to Gojo’s Past Arc, fans are left in eager anticipation of what the Shibuya Incident Arc holds.

After the bittersweet ending of Gojo’s Past Arc, the show’s trajectory takes a darker twist. The strongest duo in the Jujutsu world, Gojo and Geto, transform from allies to adversaries, adding a new layer of intrigue to the narrative.

Suguru Geto’s path takes a sinister turn as he embraces the path of evil, while Satoru Gojo, the mischievous troublemaker, assumes the role of a Jujutsu instructor, nurturing a new generation of sorcerers. This dynamic shift sets the stage for a captivating clash between light and darkness.

The creators have decided to take a small break between the two arcs, allowing viewers to catch their breath before the storm. The hiatus won’t be long, and the new release date for the next episode is already confirmed.

For eager fans in Japan, the episode will be broadcast on MBS and TBS, while international viewers can exclusively catch it on Crunchyroll. The upcoming episode is expected to take fans into a world of evaluations and unexpected reunions.

A girl from Yuji’s past resurfaces, bringing with her a mix of nostalgia and intrigue. While the brief hiatus may leave us craving more, the promise of the Shibuya Incident Arc’s thrilling narrative is worth the wait.

‘Jujutsu Kaisen 0’ Is the Perfect Introduction to the Series’ Main Villain [25]

Jujutsu Kaisen is back with episodes from its second season streaming weekly on Crunchyroll. For those in need of catching up before they can enjoy this new season, the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, as opposed to Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1, is actually the perfect place to start.

Season 1 featured 24 jaw-dropping episodes that premiered in late 2020, following the exploits of Yuji Itadori (Junya Enoki) as he, after being possessed by one of the most powerful Curses of all time (Ryomen Sukuna), is enrolled into a secret society of Jujutsu Sorcerers under the tutelage of Gojo Satoru (himself a ridiculously overpowered Cursed Sorcery User voiced by Yuichi Nakamura).

The film on the other hand, Jujutsu Kaisen 0, was released between both seasons in 2021 and lands right in the middle of the timeline. Massively hyped upon release, it followed the Demon Slayer approach in adapting one of its arcs for film to massive box office success.

Manga readers know that it all comes together in the end (by the end of Season 2 during the upcoming Shibuya Incident, in fact), but in the meantime, it’s an absolute minefield of continuity. Don’t worry though, whether it’s the best cursed sorcery brawls of Season 1 or essential characters to read up on, we’ve got you covered.

RELATED: 10 Popular Manga That Deserve An Anime Adaptation. Season 1 viewers have fallen in love with its main character Yuji Itadori for his carefree personality and pink hair, becoming the perfect embodiment of a Shonen protagonist too heroic and goodhearted for the immense destructive power that he holds within him.

Though Itadori is introduced as an extremely physically gifted student, even before his demonic possession, Yuji is scrawny and meek, a constant punching bag for bullies of all sorts. However, his worries over his bullies don’t come from them but for them, as he’s constantly terrified of his uncontrollable Cursed Spirit Rika slaughtering anyone who does him harm.

His immense power has rendered him alone and friendless, echoed in the first instance he manages to control Rika while trapped in the belly of another gargantuan Cursed Spirit, where he states, “I want to have a connection with someone. I want to be needed by someone.

After all, outsider art like comic books and anime proudly support the lonely as some of their greatest and most valued fans, providing them solace through escapist worlds they could only dream of. There’s no better protagonist who embodies that than Yuji.

Plenty of fan-favorite characters (of which there’s no shortage in Jujutsu Kaisen) get spotlighted to a greater extent than they would in the series.

In many ways, he’s the Black Bolt of Jujutsu Kaisen, with the film’s villain Suguru Geto (Takahiro Sakurai) acting as the franchise’s Magneto. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 is the best introduction a fan could get to Geto, whose mission to accelerate the evolution of humanity through Cursed Sorcery proves a world-class threat that only the likes of Gojo (whose powers literally involve the manipulation of infinity) and Yuta could compete with.

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 takes you through an abridged version of the backstory for Gojo and Geto’s brotherly relationship as former students turned bitter rivals (which Season 2 depicts in full), with his ability to manipulate Cursed Spirits on stunning display in some of the most breathtaking animation (an exceptional mix of 2D and 3D techniques) of the last decade.

That’s why, in order to defeat Geto, Yuta has to do something he’s struggled to resist since the start of his journey. Instead of trying to control Rika, who he’s constantly seen as a burdensome reminder of his childhood grief, he needs to learn to love her like the friend she once was.

Given the character’s extreme self-loathing, born as a result of Rika’s attachment to him, Yuta’s acceptance of Rika acts as a metaphor for his acceptance of himself, warts and all. It’s a powerful analogy for both coming to terms with grief and learning to love one’s self even when one’s flaws have resulted in so much misery.

While fans are sure to miss Yuta upon starting Season 1 and discovering that his story (for the moment) ends here, the massive scope of the world fashioned in Jujutsu Kaisen is, like Sukuna’s fingers, best consumed in bites. It’s a sprawling world comparable to Harry Potter if the Wizarding World had fight scenes on par with the best of One Piece and Dragon Ball, with powerfully adult themes of trauma to boot.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode Count [26]

Gege Akutami has been winning the hearts of the Jujutsu Kaisen fans by delivering back-to-back spectacular manga chapters. Gojo fans are especially loving the latest chapters.

After making us wait for more than two years, MAPPA is finally coming back with the much-awaited Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen anime. RELATED: Jujutsu Kaisen: Can Gojo Defeat Sukuna.

The first season of Jujutsu Kaisen aired in 2020, and as expected from a MAPPA project, it got smashing viewership. However, as the mammoth animation studio got a little too busy with projects like Attack on Titan and Chainsaw Man, Jujutsu Kaisen fans had to wait a lot longer than expected for Season 2.

Season 2 of Jujutsu Kaisen is scheduled to premiere on Crunchyroll this Thursday, July 6th, 2023. The episode will drop on Japan’s local network at 8:00 AM PT (Pacific Timing).

The streaming platform will simulcast the new season and has officially confirmed that Episode 1 will be available to watch at 10 AM PT (Pacific Timing). However, the release timing will vary depending on your region, so here’s the regional breakdown of the release time:

So, you can expect something similar to transpire with the premiere of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. MAPPA has yet to give an official word on JJK Season 2’s episode count, but the official website has confirmed that the upcoming season will run for two cours.

Season 2 will cover two major arcs from the manga series — Hidden Inventory and Shibuya Incident. The first five episodes will focus on the Hidden Inventory Arc, and after that, MAPPA will dedicate two episodes for the recaps of Episodes 1-5, Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, and Season 1 (Although this may feel unnecessary).
