In the last few rallies of the fourth set, each player’s high school banner’s slogan flares behind them as a nostalgic throwback to the values that they still live and breathe by. As Kageyama and Hinata leap and meet in front of the net, Karasuno’s banner appears in between them, emblazoned with the words: FLY.

I loved this episode so shamelessly. From Seijoh’s heartbreaking reaction to all of Karasuno greeting their volleyboys as heroes (I especially liked seeing Hinata and Kageyama’s teacher congratulating them, given the events at the start of the season — that scene brought a smile to my face), it made for such a wonderfully emotional ending.

As for season three, which I am eagerly awaiting, I hope it isn’t going to be one-cour, but I can’t help but think they have no choice. Karasuno’s match with Shiratorizawa is longer than their match against Seijoh was, true, but it’s certainly not long enough to carry the entire season.

MAL has always been biased to sequels, because less people who dislike the show watch sequels the series rating usually ends up a lot higher. I’m glad that season 3 was announced early so they didn’t have to provide unnecessary closure in the episode.

Fall can’t come sooner.

So, if a Season 4 happens after that, it would not be too long apart. The increasing number of.

The anime television series adaptation produced by Production I.G was announced on September 22, 2013. The series is directed by Susumu Mitsunaka, with Taku Kishimoto handling series composition, Takahiro Kishida providing character designs, and Yuki Hayashi and Asami Tachibana composed the music.

It also focused on the Karasuno High School volleyball team and the relationship between players Hinata and Tobio Kageyama.

It has been licensed for digital and home video release by Sentai Filmworks. A second season aired from October 4, 2015, to March 27, 2016.

Karasuno High School vs Shiratorizawa Academy (ハイキュー.

Karasuno Kōkō VS Shiratorizawa Gakuen Kōkō), aired from October 8 to December 10, 2016. Sentai Filmworks has also licensed the third season.

A fourth season, titled Haikyu.

He met his first rival in middle school: Tobio Kageyama, a genius setter notoriously known as the King of the Court. When Hinata arrived at Karasuno High School, he hoped to improve so he could play against Kageyama once more.

Hinata and Kageyama became known as the freak duo thanks to their special technique, where the former would be able to spike the latter’s superfast set with his eyes closed. After a key defeat in Season 1, the Karasuno team realized they all had to evolve in order to get better.

In Season 4 of Haikyuu.

Following Karasuno’s triumph over Inarizaki in Chapter 290, they must now face Nekoma in the legendary Battle at the Garbage Dump. Karasuno and Nekoma have faced each other many times in practice matches.

Karasuno will then play against Kamomedai, who were first introduced in Season 4 of the Haikyuu.

Disaster strikes and their first time at Nationals ends soon after. After graduation, all the players have gone their separate ways.

Hinata, however, goes all the way to Brazil, where he takes up beach volleyball to improve his skills in every aspect. When he returns to Japan, he’s like an entirely different player and the match between his team and Kageyama’s team is of epic proportions.

After all, Season 4’s production suffered some setbacks due to the pandemic. Other popular series such as Jujutsu Kaisen and Demon Slayer have seen incredible success with their respective anime movies, and the volleyball series may follow the same trend.

However, two movies attempting to cover approximately 110 chapters and five arcs isn’t exactly encouraging. At around two hours apiece, they will only cover 12 episodes of a regular anime season.

While many had hoped to see another season, the Haikyuu.

Enzo, I’m curious, how aware are you of the story from next season onwards. I always knew you as anime-only but just wondering how much you might have accidentally picked up over the last few years (hopefully as little as possible) based on your comments on Nekoma.

Also this is the Tsukki fan in me, but his focus on Hinata finding his ‘moment’ is a callback to when Tsukki has his own when he finally blocked Ushijima (S3E4) and had his screaming/fist pump celebration, when Kuroo and Bokuto told him back in the S2 training camp that he would eventually fall in love with volleyball.

Good point on Tsuk(k)i, though I’d say that Shouyou was already more in love with volleyball before his epiphany here than Tsuki was after his.

Just my opinion but I think it’s both a callback but also different for Shoyo. For Tsukki it was his moment that got him hooked on volleyball.

So I guess you could say for Tsukki it went from 0 -> 1, but for Shoyo it went from say 1 -> 2, or something like that. Shoyo has always loved spiking, jumping, being on offense.

And that “moment” was the one that hooked him onto defense, where it all came together. Not a nice position into a face save, not a 1 time block, or some other “fluke”.

It hooked him into a whole new side of volleyball for good and gave him that next level. Haikyuu.

is popular enough in Japan to have the whole manga adapted. There’s even multiple stage plays of the manga as well.

There’s also strong interest outside Japan as well – enough to have the show and its characters trending on Twitter globally. Whether it be in the form of seasonal shows, OVAs and/or movie, the manga will get fully adapted.

This has become SOP for the Japanese publishers and production committee to engage with the international audience, rather than continue to stick their head under the ground. The most interesting Inarizaki moment of the finale was Osamu telling Shouyou that he’d be setting to him in the future (on the national team, presumably).

What Atsumu has stated is not only recognition of Hinata being of national team standard but that he will continue to prevail over Kageyama in being the national team’s setter – that he will be the one setting to Hinata instead of Kageyama. Even Hinata can’t tell them apart 😉.

Since the show’s fourth season aired in 2020, fans have eagerly awaited the next installment in Karasuno High’s story. It was naturally expected that the final few manga chapters would be adapted into a fifth season, but recent announcements debunked that expectation.

The films will cover chapters 292-403 of Haruichi Furudate’s bestselling sports manga, picking up from where the anime left off. Haikyuu.

Final movie, which will come out in two parts, was announced at a 2022 event to conclude the grand volleyball saga. The event also released a trailer by TOHO Animation, which acted more as a teaser, featuring snapshots of the major characters before exhibiting the title card.

According to the announcement, the movie will premiere in October 2023, and the first film will be released in late 2023. The Production I.G.-produced anime adaptation’s first season aired in 2014, while season 2 ran from 2015 to 2016.

The franchise also has a series of film releases summarizing events from the anime. The first film, Haikyuu.

The two learn to work together, improve each other’s skills and soar to new heights. Season 4 ended with the victory of Karasuno against Inarizaki High School, setting the stage for the fated Karasuno versus Nekoma, or the Battle at the Garbage Dump.

It’s been four long years but finally, the majestic Haikyuu.

Volleyball.

The talented Kageyama is called up to a national team training camp and Tsukishima is selected as one of the best first years in the prefecture, but where does that leave our noisy ginger pipsqueak Hinata.

Let me put my cards on the table: I think Haikyuu.

It’s always animated with love and care by Production IG, the soundtrack is a celebration of climbing your way to the top (composed by Run with the Wind‘s Yuki Hayashi) and the volleyball action is just awesome: the poetry of fighting to win, believing in your teammates and trying as hard as you can to be better, only to sometimes fall short.

This is the fourth season and from this first episode, I see no reason why things would be any different. It still feels like the same show to me.

is just a great anime. Why not jump in already.

I started watching Haikyuu.

” Hinata may have grown a little taller, but for me, six years have passed and my memory’s a bit foggy. Can I still feel empathy for these characters.

On that note, I see that the manga has begun its final arc, too. I’m glad.

It’s hard to remember the last time we saw Haikyuu.

There was an announcement about a film project and it’s been all quiet ever since. Thankfully, Blue Lock has kept the spirits of sports fans alive, but even so, it’s tough not to think about Karasuno High playing volleyball, and that ultimately begs the question, where’s Haikyuu.

: Season 5.

: Season 5 — yet anyways. The first one of the films is reportedly scheduled to arrive later in 2023, but if you want to know more about the fifth season instead, then here’s everything we know.

The anime was not renewed after the fourth season ended, so right now Haikyuu.

However, a kick-off event for the first sequel movie is going to be held in August 2023, and it’s likely a global airing will soon follow. It has also been stated that the two-part movie titled “Haikyuu.

Final” will cover the entire remaining chapters of the manga, and will conclude the anime, which is terrible news since that leaves nothing to adapt for a fifth season.

As they’re supposed to adapt all chapters that are still left, then both the Tokyo Finals Arc and Final Arc about Karasuno playing in the Tokyo Nationals and thereafter will be included in the movies. As for Haikyuu.

: Season 5, it will have to be a totally original story if things are to be kept going. A fifth season ultimately seems very far-fetched, especially since the manga will have been entirely animated, but again, you never know when an anime will return.

Odds are that the cast of Haikyuu.

A fifth season will probably play out during a time set years after the film adaptations’ ending, so we may be introduced to an entirely new main cast. However, it’s a safe bet that cameos of characters such as Hinata, Kageyama, and Tsukishima will happen.

The obvious guesses are that Ayumu Murase will reprise his role as Hinata, Kōki Uchiyama as Kei Tsukishima, Miyu Irino as Kōshi Sugawara, and perhaps Kaori Nazuka will portray Kiyoko Shimizu again too. The anime series has introduced hundreds of characters over the course of its decade-long run.

: Season 5 won’t disappoint with it’s world-building.

Apart from Crunchyroll, there still are a select few providers that have all previous seasons of the anime available such as Roku, but they can only be accessed in a handful of regions which is a bummer. Netflix, Disney+, Funimation, and Hulu don’t have any parts of the anime streaming, so it’s doubtful that Haikyuu.

: Season 5 will ever arrive there. A fifth season is unlikely to happen, but that doesn’t make this the end of Hinata’s journey to the top since there are movies coming up, so in the meantime, you can get excited for them.

season 5 might finally be announced officially during Jump Festa 2022. With the celebration being the manga and anime event’s 10th anniversary, it makes it the perfect occasion to announce the fifth season of this immensely popular series.

The Jump Festa 2022 is scheduled for two days, on December 18 and 19, 2021. If the announcement indeed confirms the production of the fifth season, it can be expected to premiere in Fall 2022.

Inarizaki match, where the characters on both teams reach new heights, and a well-deserved tear-jerking win. The final episode of the season shows the Nekoma team walking down a corridor, after watching the match that decided their next opponent.

Karasuno match is something that has been talked about and hyped since the first season itself, nicknamed “The Battle at the Garbage Dump” because of the two teams’ symbolic representations of a crow and an alley cat. Fans are also excited to see Kenma and Hinata finally face off against each other in a serious match, going all out to secure the next win.

Sports anime is still a relatively new genre to me. I’ve seen a couple over the years (Ping Pong The Animation and Yuri.

On Ice), but they aren’t exactly mainstream sports. Despite that, I enjoyed these shows for their realism and emphasis on character relationships while using sports as a way to explore them further.

Luckily, Haikyuu.

We started watching it back when the COVID shutdown happened, and for the first couple of months, it was basically a life-saver. It was the thing that got me through each week.

Haikyuu.

This show has many strengths, ranging from action-packed volleyball matches to fun training montages featuring meaningful character growth, and consistently great animation across three seasons. It does a lot of things right.

There are many strong friendships featured throughout the show, with the primary focus being on Hinata and Kageyama’s rivalry-turned-alliance. They get the most screentime, but there are other great duos like Daichi and Suga, Noya and Asahi, and Oikawa and Iwaizumi.

Whether they push and inspire each other to be better, always have each other’s backs, or a little bit of both, these friendships make up the backbone and heart of Haikyuu.

So it really shouldn’t be a surprise that one of these friendships is my favorite part of the show. What might be surprising is which friendship that is: Tsukishima and Yamaguchi.

Watching its evolution over the course of the show and how they change as a result is excellent. Spoiler warning: I’m exploring the friendship between Tsukishima and Yamaguchi and how they both change throughout the show, which means getting into spoiler territory.

Yamaguchi and Tadashi are childhood friends. While we don’t have a ton to go off of, what we do see paints a very clear picture.

One day while this was going on, Tsukishima happened to walk by and, after observing the situation, stood up for Yamaguchi…sort of. He calls them “pathetic” and walks off.

Not the most heroic or knight in shining armor moment ever. And because Tsukishima is as aloof and vague as ever, it’s also unclear who exactly he’s calling pathetic.

We don’t ever get a clear answer, either, but in Yamaguchi’s mind, it doesn’t seem to matter all that much. He’s grateful and from that day on and follows Tsukishima’s lead.

In the early episodes of Haikyuu.

Yamaguchi doesn’t have a character of his own yet. He follows Tsukishima around like a lost puppy and blindly admires everything he does.

He’s way too overprotective and brags on Tsukishima’s behalf constantly (though, to Tsukishima’s credit, he’s not a fan of Yamaguchi doing that). Ironically, he becomes something akin to the bullies that tormented him as a kid whenever he jumps on the bandwagon to insult Kageyama with Tsukishima.

They’ve known each other for years, and yet there’s definitely a level of superiority in Tsukishima’s behavior. Half the time, he acts like he doesn’t even want Yamaguchi around.

Then again, often the best character dynamics usually don’t. Thankfully, the dynamic between Tsukishima and Yamaguchi shifts and evolves as Haikyuu.

Early on, it becomes pretty apparent that the first years are very talented and have a lot of potential. With Kageyama’s precision sets and all-around talents on the court, Hinata’s amazing quick attack, jumping height, and reflexes, along with Tsukishima’s height and blocking potential, the first years make a name for themselves and are added to the starting lineup.

He’s the only first-year to get benched, and he feels the pressure of being left behind. Instead of resigning himself to being a benchwarmer, Yamaguchi starts working hard to improve his volleyball skills.

Float serves are pretty tough to master, though, and when Yamaguchi does happen to succeed during practice, it’s usually down to luck. So it wasn’t especially consistent yet.

Despite that, during their match with Aoba Josai, Coach Ukai swaps Yamaguchi in as the pinch server. Unlike the other first-years who have had experience on the court in high-stress matches, this is Yamaguchi’s first time in a match of this level and it doesn’t go well.

He messes up the float serve at a pretty critical juncture and it’s devastating. For Yamaguchi, showcasing the float serve was for more than just scoring Karasuno a point.

Messing up the float serve is a major blow to his pride. If there’s an example of how the “yips” is a real challenge and can plague even the best of athletes, Yamaguchi embodies that for much of the show.

Throughout Season 2, Yamaguchi continues to train with Shimada to make the float serve more reliable and consistent. It’s a stark contrast to Tsukishima’s attitude towards volleyball (we’ll get to that later), and his hard work ultimately pays off near the finale of Season 2 during their rematch with Aoba Josai, but not without some challenges along the way.

As much as he’s practiced the serve, he’s not free of his nerves and still doesn’t have the same level of experience as the rest of his teammates. After almost messing up a float serve, it’s clear that he’s reminded of his past failure and is afraid of messing up again.

As the pinch server, it’s Yamaguchi’s job to earn the team points by using the difficult to receive float serves as a weapon. By not doing that and using a regular serve he’s not using his potential and is effectively running away from his responsibilities, and it eats at him.

He’s brought back in the game as the pinch server and is noticeably more calm and confident this time around. He proceeds to score Karasuno five points almost singlehandedly with the float serve.

It brings Karasuno back into the game and gives them a fighting chance in a set they would have very likely lost without him.

because it shows how much strength and resolve Yamaguchi has. He succeeded in proving his worth and redeemed himself.

He’s pretty normal compared to his teammates but he still always tries his best. He works hard to offset his weaknesses and becomes a stronger player and teammate for it.

, Yamaguchi’s character arc revolves around him applying his passion for volleyball and working hard to be a better player. He practices tirelessly to be of value to the team and is ultimately validated for his hard work.

His arc revolves around his evolution from being an apathetic, dispassionate player to learning to love the sport over time and becoming genuinely invested in getting better.

He consistently picks on Kageyama and provokes him as often as possible, and his treatment of Yamaguchi isn’t much better. He doesn’t seem to care about him very much, and if anything seems annoyed whenever he follows him around.

When Tsukishima and Yamaguchi join the volleyball club, it’s a way to get an elective to graduate. It’s not something he’s interested in, and he does the bare minimum practice.

He has natural instincts, can predict where to block the ball pretty consistently, and on top of all that, has the height to pull it off without breaking a sweat. But the reason for Tsukishima’s blasé attitude isn’t because he’s naturally gifted and doesn’t have to try.

Tsukishima’s older brother, Akiteru, played volleyball when he was in middle and high school. Tsukishima would regularly attend his.

His biggest opponent on the field is the talented Kageyama Tobio in middle school, whose main focus is to crush anyone that dare challenge him to a match. The story follows the revival of Karasuno High and the unity they maintain to pave their way for nationals.

It’s a fun and endearing anime so cutting corners only really affects your own entertainment. The OVAs flesh out the cast even more and the movies, while technically filler, act as a cool down from all of the action.

Based on the original work by Haruichi Furudate, the illustration showcases all 21 members of Karasuno and Nekoma High. The poster reveals 12 members of Karausno High School, including Shoyo Hinata, Tobio Kageyama, Yuu Nishinoya, Ryunosuke Tanaka, Koshi Sugawara, Asahi, Kei Tsukishima, and others.

On the other side of the spectrum, the visual depicts the nine Nekoma High players, including their MVP, Kenma Kozume, Tetsuro Kuro, Morisuke Yaku, Taketora Yamamoto, Nobuyuki Kai, and others. Similar to the Karasuno High Team, the Nekoma players look determined to assert their authority on the volleyball court.

Additionally, the background art reveals a garbage dump with the silhouettes of a cat and crow drawn on the backs of both teams. The visual also shows a catchphrase that reads as such, when translated:

One Piece is one of the most-watched animes of all time and the craze for the manga continues to grow even in 2023. Unsurprisingly, manga lovers are not the only ones who love the anime dearly.

The Final” encountered its fair share of challenges, primarily stemming from the global COVID-19 pandemic. This unexpectedly affected the anime industry, leading to delays and uncertainties in bringing the conclusion of the beloved series to fans.

They took a long break from the series until now. That might be a good thing as the hype of the series is at an all-time high.

The Movie: The Ultimate Battle.” It will cover the team’s matches in the National Tournament. Although we don’t know the exact release date yet, fans are really looking forward to it.

Haikyuu’s gripping matches, character development, and resilient production team have left an indelible mark. Though challenges, including the pandemic, delayed the journey, the spirit of Haikyuu endures.

So we should enjoy the Movie to the fullest.

As those of you who read my review or have talked with me the past few days have likely realized, I’ve fallen in love with Haikyuu.

However, one of the strongest comes from a single scene from the show’s second season. The final rally of the climactic match-up between Karasuno and Aoba Jousai within the second half of the season will likely go down as one of my favorite scenes in anime.

There are a lot of different angles that make this scene spectacular, so let’s not waste any time in talking about it.

and even before, with the relationship between Aoba Jousai setter Toru Oikawa and Karasuno setter Tobio Kageyama dating back to their days in Junior High. The two teams meet several times over the course of the series and Aoba Jousai is built up from early within the series as the biggest rival to Karasuno.

A hard-fought series between the two teams goes to Game 3 and deep into a deuce in the third game. In a crushing defeat for Karasuno, Aoba Jousai takes the victory with a final score of 33-31, leaving many of Karasuno’s players dejected and striving to improve in order to defeat their “sworn” rivals.

Tsukishima works on his passion for the game and his blocking at the training camp through working with Fukurodani’s Bokuto and others at the camp, Kageyama ends up going to Oikawa for advice on his play and chemistry with Hinata, and Hinata looks to improve his own abilities. The entirety of the team look to improve themselves and the two teams meet once again in the semi-finals to the Spring Prefectural Representative Playoffs.

In order to realize why this scene is to tense and serves as such a fitting conclusion for one of the biggest story arcs of the series, we need to look in-depth at the course of the play in question. As Sugawara’s serve begins the rally, it is quickly received by Iwaizumi and set up to be returned over the net through a fast spike from Aoba Jousai’s Kyoutani.

Sugawara sets the ball for a powerful spike from Asahi, which is narrowly dug out by Aoba Jousai. However, the receive sends the ball careening off the side of the course, where it is only received by Oikawa stepping out in order to receive it.

Oikawa utters one of my favorite quotes from the series as he rapidly returns to the court: “Talent is something you make bloom. Instinct is something you polish.

Karasuno’s Daichi narrowly receives the spike as the ball appears to be headed out of bounds, only to be received by a diving Tanaka. As Aoba Jousai declares it to be their “chance ball”, Asahi manages a spike from near the back of the in-bounds area which is sent careening back into the net on Aoba Jousai’s receive.

Finally, as the scene reaches its climax, Hinata rushes forward calling for the set and pinpoints his target, deflecting the ball off the hand of a blocker as it heads for Oikawa, who is unable to direct it forward which ends the rally with Karasuno’s game-winning point. That may have been an incredibly wordy description for the scene, but it needs to be retold in order to effectively attempt to capture the spectacle that this rally is.

Several incredible plays and miracle saves, like Tanaka’s diving save and Oikawa’s cross-court setup, create for amazing and extremely memorable moments within the scene and the entire rally has this building tension which explodes with Hinata’s final spike and Oikawa’s unsuccessful deflection.

As intense and spectacular as the scene is in context alone, the execution within the show makes the experience even more complete by adding several memorable shots within the animation and striking imagery. As I used for the header during the “Final Battle” portion, Oikawa’s point is instantly recognizable and was striking in its contrast from the action going on around it.

Tanaka’s dive to return a ball that could have tied the game shows the drive and ambition the entirety of Karasuno has exemplified throughout the entire match. The zoom-in and focus of Hinata as he rushes in for the set exemplifies his own drive to win and his fiery passion coming alive in the end of a hard-fought series.

The soundtrack piece accompanying this scene, entitled Direct Confrontation, is an absolutely fantastic piece of music and easily takes a place among my top OST tracks of all-time. The track’s heavy driving orchestration gives the entire scene a grandiose and encompassing feel that really highlights this as the point the past two seasons have been building to.

It is as fast-paced and “hypey” as you could possibly hope for from a track designed to accompany the highlight moment of the season, raising the scene from one of the best within the show to one of the best in anime overall in my opinion.

The build-up for the scene is fast-paced and yet nuanced, without ever breaking into the high-flying energy that the scene looks to accomplish. However, as soon as Direct Confrontation begins and Sugawara serves to begin the rally, everything changes and the motors kick in.

At several different points, the rally looks like it might end only to be saved in a clutch moment, creating for even more tension as the rally continues to carry on between the two teams.

On the other side, however, absolute silence envelops Aoba Jousai’s team as the crushing defeat begins to sink in. Haikyuu.

and this scene in particular does a fantastic job of pulling the viewer in and making them feel the same way as the crowd observing the game. So, I’ve gone on for over 1500 words about how fantastic a scene this is and yet, I feel it still deserves more.

There are so many spectacular things that this scene does right and it makes for one of the greatest moments of an absolutely incredible series. There are so many other fantastic scenes within the series worthy of similar praise, but this is among the best the series has to offer.

Welcome, weebs, to Animated Observations. For now, at least, its over.

It was an emotional turbulent season filled with second hand embarrassment, hard works, and most deservedly, triumph. Thought its fifth season has yet to be confirmed by Production I.G., it seems fairly like that the series will get another season.

It would not be “Haikyuu” without our loveable orange haired protagonist Hinata Shouyou. While Hinata does not feel much different from other shounen/sports anime protagonists, His determination does feel a bit more infectious for a sport like volleyball, where movement, accuracy, and game awareness can make much more of a difference in terms of who wins and loses.

However, even as he is left behind by Kageyama and Tsukishima, he is still determined to catch up. How does he accomplish this.

Still, as cringe inducing as the first quarter of the show was, it helped to identify just how serious Hinata was about improving his play, and solidify him as a main character worth rooting for.

Tanaka, for example, spends a good portion of the match doubting his own spiking abilities because of how good there defense is. It is not until Kageyama calms him down that he is able to focus on game proper, and through that focus get some amazing points.

Being one of the tallest guys on the team, he is expected to be a good blocker, but his confidence does not rebound until Hinata eggs him on.

Even a few members of Inarizaki get highlighted.

As he arrives at the training center, he immediately meets Atsumu of the Miya twins, and from there, the series does a great job highlighting and foreshadowing there rivalry as setters. It also helps that their personalities are pretty much total opposites.

Atsumu’s personality is, of course, off-putting to Kageyama, but also to the other people around him.

In fact, while Kageyama and Atsumu are playing a practice set, both stop to admire his raw height. While Hoshiumi’s team has yet to face off against Karasuno, it will likely be an explosive match with him and Hinata at the center, pitting the two shortest members of each team against in each other in a battle to see who can get the most air.

There was tension, endurance, rivalry, and pretty much anything a person would want in a good sports story. There is definitely more excitement to come, but it is hard to see how it will compare with what was undoubtedly the show’s high-point, even despite some lackluster animation because of COVID rushing.

The first season of Haikyu.

It adapted the “Karasuno High Team Formation” (chapters 1–35) and “Interhigh” (chapters 36–71) story arcs from the original manga series of the same name written by Haruichi Furudate. The series was announced in the manga’s eighth volume, and aired from April 6 to September 21, 2014 on MBS, other JNN stations, and with English subtitles on Crunchyroll.

The series uses four pieces of theme music: two opening themes and two ending themes. From episodes 1-13, the opening theme song is “Imagination” by Spyair, while the ending theme song is “Tenchi Gaeshi” by Nico Touches the Walls.

“Ah Yeah” is also used as the ending for episode 14, which has no opening.

August 19th holds the title of Official Haikyuu.

A frustrated Haikyuu fan can only wonder: will there be some good news for us.

Haikyuu is undoubtedly one of the most popular sports manga of all time. It has remained in the Top 20 Best-Selling Manga in 2022 despite ending in 2020, and its online presence has continued to thrive since 2014.

Fans have been waiting for years for new anime announcements. There was a huge gap between the third season and the fourth season, with the latter suffering from some animation hiccups due to the effects of the pandemic.

Fortunately, it was announced last year that there will be a sequel to the fourth season: there will be two movies, and it will be called Haikyuu.

Needless to say, there was confusion over the news. Of course, we’ll get a fifth season and two movies, right.

But no. Much to our dismay, we were all let down by the news.

There are only two movies, which are approximately less than two hours each. And the catch.

Will they be able to finish the entirety of Shoyo Hinata’s story in less than four hours.

From the moment Shoyo Hinata caught a glimpse of the Little Giant, a volleyball player who seemed to defy gravity on television, his life took an irrevocable turn. This spectacle ignited his passion for volleyball, leading him to his first rival during middle school: Tobio Kageyama, a prodigious setter notorious as the King of the Court.

Following a pivotal defeat in the first season, the Karasuno team recognized the need for growth to elevate their performance. After defeating Aoba Johsai in the semifinals, Karasuno also defeated Shiratorizawa in the finals, which earned them a spot at Nationals.

Following Karasuno’s decisive victory against Inarizaki, their next challenge awaits in the iconic Battle at the Garbage Dump against Nekoma. However, misfortunes befall Karasuno one after another, which led to their untimely exit from Nationals. The first meeting of Hinata and Kamomedai’s Kourai Hoshiumi in Season 4.

After graduation, the team members venture down their own different paths. While some opt to retire from volleyball after high school, others, like Kageyama, continue their journey as professional athletes.

Needless to say, over a hundred chapters of the manga means that there are still a lot of arcs that are waiting to be animated. Season 4 has already suffered from a lot of cuts due to time restrictions, and the match between Nekoma and Fukurodani, with both teams boasting devoted fan followings, had to be cut off from the rest of the season and were adapted as a two episode OVA instead.

Now take the fast pacing of the Nekoma vs. Fukurodani OVA, and make it even faster, since we have 110 chapters of manga to animate.

That’s mind boggling, to say the least, considering that the third season, which has ten episodes, only consisted of a single match and it even had considerable cuts. Will the matches in the movie even have as much impact as the manga if they cut down lots of material, including the backstories of the characters.

The brilliance of Haikyuu lies in its exceptional character writing. Delving into characters’ pasts has consistently been a hallmark of Furudate-sensei’s storytelling, and gaining insight into the inner workings of opponents has consistently cultivated a sense of endearment even for rival teams.

It has already been announced that the first of the two final movies will be focused on the Battle of the Garbage Dump—the match against Nekoma. and while it is still unconfirmed, considering that the first movie focused on the Nekoma match, the second movie will most likely focus on the Kamomedai match, with a brief segue of the Brazil arc, as well as a fleeting glimpse of Hinata and Kageyama’s professional match.

Such a thing will be a missed opportunity for more sales though, since the Timeskip arc opens possibilities for more merchandise. Of course, if they just glossed over the much awaited final arc, fans will definitely get angry, considering just how well-received the ending was.

The first movie can deal with Hinata’s journey in Brazil, while the second movie will be about Hinata and Kageyama’s match as professionals. However, the producers seem to be hell-bent on taking the movie route instead of producing another season for the anime, given the success of anime movies for series like Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, and most recently, Slam Dunk.

In fact, despite all the cuts, having three movies will be perfect if they really want it to be in movie format—the first movie and second movies will be about the Nekoma and Kamomedai matches, and the third movie will focus on Brazil and the Timeskip arc. Seeing the final match in theaters will truly be a satisfying experience for the fans who have been waiting for it to be animated for years.

There are also speculations that they might take the Demon Slayer: Mugen Train route by releasing it first as a movie, then making a new season with the movie, in addition to the new scenes that were cut from the manga. Others have also said that Haikyuu might just pull off an Attack on Titan, where the finale season was cut into several parts.

The Haikyuu fandom is still in denial about the adaptation. While there are some that have accepted it and are just happy to have more Haikyuu, the fandom remains in unison that the rest of the Nationals and the final arc deserve a full adaptation.

can do it for Kuroko no Basket, why can’t they do it for Haikyuu. Considering the number of merchandise being produced for the series every month as well as the manga sales still being on top despite the manga ending for years, Haikyuu fans surely have the capacity to spend for it.

As of this writing, only two movies have been confirmed, with the first movie focusing on the Nekoma match. It still hasn’t been announced if there will be a third movie, but there’s still some hope—a miracle might happen and they might announce something at the Haikyuu Send-Off Party in September.

Ever since fans heard that the final arcs of Haikyuu. would be adapted into two movies, concerns have been swirling around the fandom.

The final arc includes some of the series’ most important matches, such as the Dumpster Battle between Nekoma and Karasuno. It also shows what happens after nationals and once everybody graduates.

Many fans fear this won’t make the cut in favor of the big showdown between Nekoma and Karasuno. Still, it’s an important couple of chapters that show Fukurodani’s collective perseverance and expands upon Akaashi’s backstory.

Many fans hope this makes the movie’s final cut because it would be remiss to leave out such a famous quote. Karasuno’s match against Kamomedai occurred after the Dumpster Battle.

When Karasuno finally got the upper hand, Hinata came down with a fever of 102.4°F. Kageyama caught onto it first and reasoned that it was because Hinata overworked himself in the prior days.

Though this was a devastating moment for the team, it was a pivotal scene revealing Hinata’s fortitude. Atsumu watched the match from the stands and recognized that it took three of the strongest teams in the country to wear Hinata out.

Their rivalry finally comes to a crescendo after they graduated high school and moved onto different teams. Kageyama plays for the Schweiden Adlers, while Hinata plays for the MSBY Black Jackals.

Everything in the series has been building up to this battle, so it would be a massive mistake for it not to be included. One of the most exciting events of the time skip was Hinata’s trip to Brazil.

However, nobody expected him to meet up with Oikawa shortly after. The latter invited him to dinner, and they caught up on the past few years’ events.

Hinata and Oikawa had tons of fun during their meet-up and even sent a selfie to their former peers. None of them could believe it, and Kageyama was so speechless that he had to show it to Ushijima.

They discovered that they work surprisingly well as teammates. Kenma’s not the most athletically inclined player in the series.

Since he’s perpetually tired and not quite passionate about volleyball, fans were shocked with the rematch between Nekoma and Karasuno rolled around. Kenma was exhausted, in pain, and running out of steam.

It was a crucial scene that showed Kenma’s growth and how playing against one of his best friends brought out his full potential. Fukurodani is just a supporting team in the series, so fans don’t anticipate their match against Mujinazaka to make the final cut.

Fans could witness and appreciate Akaashi’s lifelong passion for volleyball and understand why he chose Fukurodani. Plus, it shows another side of Akaashi where he temporarily relinquishes his composure and lets his emotions take over, resulting in him getting benched.

Hinata felt trapped and just couldn’t work around Kenma’s observational skills. He’s Nekoma’s brain and eyes, so nothing can get by him.

Nekoma are the cats, and Karasuno are the crows. the cats caught their prey during this match.

They have one of the most intriguing dynamics in the series. As they draw the best out of each other, they also become mortal enemies on the court.

Animation is back to being god awful… I wonder what will future viewers think of this abrupt drop in quality in what was arguably the most stunningly animated sports anime. Likely the real reason will be forgotten with time and they’ll come up with conspiracy theories to explain it.

I really hope that they do proper clean-up of those episodes when the Blu-Ray discs are released. The precipitous downward slide from Season 3 is alarming to say the least.

Based on this and Noblesse, I.G. has either dropped their standard considerably or is really stretched because of the pandemic.

it gives them more depth as opposed to just existing for the sake of being someone for Karasuno to play against. However, the timing probably could have been better and not right in the middle of a match.

I can understand why they would include it, to give insight into the plays for people like me who aren’t familiar with the sport, but the match still would have been enjoyable without that insight or at least they could have been brief comments from the sports broadcasters at the game so it would feel more like sports commentary as opposed to interruptions by people in the bleachers.

If you mean the Fukurodani Group are to be seen as the “big guns” of the series, I agree. If you mean Inarizaki is a minor team strength-wise, I think Haruichi Furudate meant for us to see Inarizaki as a big deal.

Atsumu was introduced early last season and with his baiting of Kageyama I got the feeling he was supposed to be a kind of rival for him. They don’t carry a strong emotional connection for me so I can’t fault anyone who isn’t super invested in them either, but I don’t think that’s what Furudate-sensei intended.

Inarizaki match lasts, I won’t be surprised. Mid-tier in the importance sense, not skill.

We’d never even seen them before this arc that I remember. Animation issues aside, I’ve also felt this season really hasn’t been that interesting and has lacked the narratives hooks that previous matches in Haikyuu.

have had, making the usual blow-by-blow style feel more repetitive than anything else. That is a risk inherent in the blow-by-blow approach in sports anime – if you don’t give the matches enough flavor – built around the characters’ personal challenges/back story or whatever – the action begins to feel repetitive.

Generally speaking this has been the least interesting season of Haikyuu for me, animation glitches aside. Honestly, in my eyes the matches have been missing a compelling antagonist here – I mean that specifically in terms of screen presence.

I’m referring specifically to the high bar set through Kageyama’s emotional connection to Oikawa (and his general swashbuckling charm), and the sheer imposing pressure Ushiwaka’s mere presence brought to the vs. Shiratorizawa match.

Date Tech. Those stakes have largely felt like they’re missing, which feels wrong considering this is the bloody Spring Tournament.

Without a compelling personality on the other side of the net, I’m just left yearning for a character-focused training arc. All I can say is I’m with you.

He is someone who always perseveres in the face of conflict. Perhaps there is no greater defining moment than his perfect receive in the fourth season of the anime.

Inarazaki High proved to be very dangerous. Inarazaki High’s Aran Ojiro is among the most talented spikers ever seen in Haikyuu.

Aran doesn’t even need a good receive to deliver a spike. For that reason, he is also considered among the top-five players in the country.

Understandably, emotions were running very high in this match. Several former rival teams were also watching this match closely.

Kei Tsukishima attempted to block Osamu Miya. However, the Inarizaki player switched into a set at the last moment, passing the ball so Aran could spike it.

He performed a perfect receive on Aran’s spike. Even Tobio Kageyama told him that it was a nice move.

He always needed help from another teammate in Haikyuu. For the first time in what seemed like forever, Hinata shifted the momentum in his favor.

Regardless, Hinata’s enthusiasm is what saved the game. Their spirits were almost completely shattered, yet he was able to boost their confidence.

After a long and grueling battle, Karasuno High would finally overcome its fierce rivals. Osamu and Atsumu Miya were just about to deliver their patented quick attack for the final point.

Karasuno High came a long way from its crushing loss to Aoba Johsai High. This ranks highly among the most intense moments in Haikyuu.

Had it not been for Hinata’s earlier receive against Aran, perhaps his team would’ve never made it this far. His eternal optimism truly shined through in a very dark moment.

This theory is backed up by the trailer, since it features manga panels from this exact match, leading to the obvious conclusion that they will be animated. Examining the trailer further, it’s also possible to see panels from the Rio de Janeiro arc, where Hinata pursues his love for beach volleyball and a final panel of the match between the Black Jackals and the Schweden Adlers.

This match promises to get viewers on the edge of their seats, as Haikyuu.

Taking into account that this match wraps up the manga’s penultimate chapter, it’s not far-fetched to consider that Production I.G. might try to condense all remaining arcs into the movies.
