Let’s go with that. Artist Dano Hall has taken matters into his own hands and created a stamp that anyone can use to transform a Jackson $20 to a Tubman $20.

People may be wondering if stamping someone else’s face on a U.S. bill is legal.

But according to the legal experts at stampstampede.org, stamping Tubman’s face on the $20 doesn’t fall under the category of things you can’t do to currency.

Quite a few signature combinations and design changes have taken place over the period. You think American currency doesn’t change much.

We start with the Series 1974 $20 note featuring the signature of Francine Irving Neff and William Edward Simon. Neff was the 35th Treasurer of the United States, serving from June 21, 1974, to January 19, 1977.

As Treasurer, Neff oversaw the Bicentennial program and saw the reorganization of her position, which was to report to the Undersecretary for Monetary Affairs. Neff was a resident of New Mexico and passed away in 2010.

Appointed in 1974 by Richard Nixon, he served from May 9, 1974, until January 20, 1977. A laissez-faire capitalist, Simon was against government bailouts for companies, thinking that competition in the free market was what created wealth and innovation.

Olympic Committee and served on the boards of various sports organizations, including the National Basketball Hall of Fame. Simon died in 2000.

There are serial star note issues with printings under a million. 2071-F Atlanta has a release of 480,000, while Dallas Star notes have a slightly higher emission- 608,000 but are somewhat more scarce.

He immigrated to the US with his family in 1947. Blumenthal became active in democratic politics starting in 1961 and was considered for a senior role in the State Department during the Carter administration but ultimately took the position at Treasury.

His tenure ended in 1979 when President Carter turned over his cabinet following the US economic and energy crisis. There are quite a few issues in the series of 1977 worth seeking out.

Error aside, this Cleveland issue is one of the more common releases, with 189,440,000. Of course, expect many times more than the $50-$60 that a properly printed Cleveland sells for this dramatic error.

The first one features the signatures of Angela Marie “Bay” Buchanan and Donald Thomas Regan. G.

There are, however, $1, $5, and $10 notes with Miller’s John Hancock. Donald Regan served as Treasury Secretary from 1981 to 1985, and later was the White House chief of Staff during the majority of President Reagan’s second term.

He studied at Harvard and earned a bachelor’s degree before leaving Harvard Law School to join the US Marine Corps to fight in World War II. After the war, Regan found success in banking, serving as the Chairman and CEO of Merrill Lynch from 1971 to 1980.

Bay was heavily involved in Republican politics throughout her life and was especially close to California Governor Ronald Reagan as he sought the Republican presidential nomination in 1976 and again in 1980. When she took on the position of Treasurer of the United States on March 20, 1981, she was the youngest person ever to hold the position, at the age of 32.

That note trades for over $200. Also, the Philadelphia Star note, with its emission of 384,000, sells for about $200.

These were prepared after Treasurer Katherine Ortega assumed the role in September 1983. None of our references point to a date of emission for the Series 1981-A notes.

Bush. Like Francine Neff, Ortega was a New Mexico resident.

Ortega worked in the banking industry, starting as a teller and worked her way up to the position of Vice President of the Pan American National Bank. Later she served as the president of the Santa Ana State Bank.

None of the Ortega / Regan notes are particularly scarce. There was a Series 1985, but unfortunately we don’t have an example to show you.

They feature the Ortega and James Baker signature combination. There were no Series of 1988 $20 bills issued, instead we get Series of 1988-A with the combination of Catalina Vasquez Villapando and Nicholas F.

Villapando served as the 39th Treasurer of the United States, serving from December 11, 1989, to January 20, 1993. She was appointed to the position by President George W.

Villapando was active in Texas Republican politics since the late 1970s and was a supporter of George H. W.

At the time of her service, she was the highest-ranking Latina in the federal government. Unfortunately, Villapando’s tenure as Treasurer was marred by claims of illegal and unethical conduct concerning her personal use of substantial funds and benefits from a Georgia-based telecommunications company.

Villalponda retired to Maryland. Brady was born in Manhattan in 1930 but grew up in Far Hills, New Jersey.

He was appointed to a Senate position by Republican Governor Thomas Kean, filling a vacancy caused by the resignation of Harrison Williams, Jr., Brady served for eight months and did not seek election. Brady’s tenure at Treasury began in the final four months of the Reagan presidency and continued through the duration of the Bush administration.

A couple of star notes to look for – none are particularly rare but are good to obtain examples: Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Kansas City, Dallas, and San Francisco. For our video, we show a Series of 1990 star note from Cleveland.

Boston star notes, Atlanta star notes, and St. Louis notes are worth a slight premium over regular issues.

Some notes this year were printed at the Fort Worth facility. Mary Ellen Withrow was the 40th Treasurer of the United States, serving in the Clinton administration from March 1, 1994, to January 20, 2001.

A native of Marion County, Ohio, Withrow also serves as Treasurer from the state of Ohio from 1892 until she was nominated for her role in the Clinton administration. Moving on to the Series of 1995.

This note features the Signatures of Withrow and Rubin. Robert Rubin was a career banker who served as the co-chairman of Goldman Sachs before getting the nomination.

Rubin was a prodigious student and active in the Boy Scouts, earning the coveted Eagle Scout rank. He graduated summa cum laude in economics.

There’s a huge debate that is going on in regards to the best ways to improve your life via building wealth.

It seems stupid. $20/day doesn’t seem like it would go far.

You stop going to the gym, that’s a negative. You can’t make the gym, but go for a 15 minute walk, that’s a positive.

By Nia Tipton — Written on Jan 26, 2021. It’s been almost five years since it was originally reported that Harriet Tubman would be the face on the $20 bill and once President Trump took office in 2017, those plans were immediately put on the back-burner.

Great news, right. Most people would assume that the Black community would be overjoyed at the announcement that a Black woman — formerly a slave — will be on the American dollar.

“The image of Tubman on our currency as some sort of corrective action for centuries of oppression and subjugation, or as a symbol of how far we’ve come in ending racism, is more symbolic of our fundamental misunderstanding of race in America,” Oluo wrote. And I agree with her that it’s an empty gesture. White people view the history of racism as a problem of the past.

It also makes me think about the promises Biden made during his campaign run, and how he was going to right the wrongs when it came to racial inequality. But is this all he has.

But to be clear: this isn’t what Black people meant when we said we wanted accountability. It’s the same thing that happened over the summer during the Black Lives Matter protests and civil unrest.

Yes, I’m glad people are starting to realize the racist past of some of our everyday things, like the racial undertones of Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima, but taking things like that off of shelves or bringing racist images up-to-date isn’t suddenly the fix to four hundred years of oppression. President Biden thinks Black people desperately need a $20 bill with Harriet Tubman when in reality, we want Harriet Tubman to be an entire history book instead of a footnote. We want Black history to be accurately told.

Harriet Tubman represents so much. She risked her life as an abolitionist.

“We shouldn’t have to have Tubman’s face on the $20 bill to honor her. We should have been honoring her every day.

We should have her image and what she stood for at the forefront of our consciousness. We should have been honoring Tubman’s commitment to justice every day in our actions and our words,” Oluo wrote.

How can a $20 bill be worth over $57,000. Because of a printing mishap.

The “Del Monte note,” a rare $20 banknote with a banana sticker on it, is currently for sale through Heritage Auctions, a Dallas-based auction house. Currency collectors are paying close attention and breaking previous bidding records with their offers, according to Heritage Auctions.

“The note has been viewed on our website over 4,300 times,” Dustin Johnston told CNN. He’s the vice president and managing director of the currency department with Heritage Auctions.

The banknote, from the 1996 series, is unique because of the sticker, which found its way onto it between stages of the printing process, and has part of the Treasury seal and the note’s serial number printed over it.

The auction will wrap up on January 22. On that day, the note will be offered among other items during a live event that starts at 6 p.m.

This type of printing error on currency is referred to as an “obstruction.”. “Most ‘obstructed error’ notes result from a loose piece of paper, scotch tape, band-aid, or other detritus becoming attached to the currency stock during the printing process and later falling off.

With the increased use of digital tools to weed out errors, retained obstructions on banknotes are rarely found. Johnston’s says it’s a one-in-a-million chance.

“This is maybe one of the last really great retained obstructions that we’ll see,” he said.

“For a sticker to make it onto the printing floor, and get stuck to something else, and make it so cleanly on to the note… you’d almost have to suspect it was done on purpose, you know, a prank or practical joke, whatever it may be.”. The item has attracted the attention of so many collectors, monitoring the current auction on the site.

“We’re always attracted to things that go wrong. This is one of those things that – not only did it go wrong, it’s visually fantastic.

An estimated 1 million fast food and healthcare workers in California are set to get a major raise after a deal was announced earlier this week between labor unions and industries. Under the new bill, most of California’s 500,000 fast food workers would be paid at least $20 per hour in 2024.

The salary bump impacts about 455,000 workers who work at hospitals dialysis clinics and other facilities, but not doctors and nurses. Other than Washington, DC, Washington state has the highest minimum wage of any state in the country at $15.74 per hour, followed by California at $15.50.

The proposed bills must go through California’s state legislature and then be signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

The state assembly also voted to advance a proposal to give striking workers unemployment benefits — a policy change that could eventually benefit Hollywood actors and writers and Los Angeles-area hotel workers who have been on strike for much of this year.

Fifteen states have laws in place that make minimum wages equivalent to the federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour, according to the Department of Labor. Another five states have no minimum wage laws.
